Eric Gioia Hit With $72K Fine For Violating Campaign Finance Laws

Former Sunnyside/Woodside councilman Eric Gioia got slammed last Thursday with a wallet-busting $72,402 fine for violating a slew of campaign finance laws while running for public advocate in 2009. That includes nearly $30,000 for spending more than the $3.8 million limit for public advocate candidates that year and $13,000 for accepting 47 contributions that exceeded the city’s $4,950 limit for citywide candidates.…
