KFC in Woodside at 57-17 Queens Boulevard. (Google Maps)

May 13, 2019 By Meghan Sackman

A woman was stabbed and robbed on Queens Boulevard outside of a KFC in the early hours of Sunday, police say.

The 41-year-old woman was walking on Queens Boulevard on May 12 around 2:55 a.m., across from the KFC located at 57-17 Queens Boulevard, when an unknown man approached her and demanded her property.

The man, according to police, punched the woman in the face, stabbed her in the left side of the abdomen, and then stole her Galaxy phone and about $100.

The woman was taken to Elmhurst hospital where she was treated and is likely to survive.

The man fled west on Queens Boulevard and was last seen wearing a blue hooded sweatshirt.

Anyone with information in regard to this incident is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782).

Yes Andy let’s all vote Republican so we too can be like South Carolina, Louisiana, Tennessee, Alabama and Mississippi. All the states with the highest crime rates lowest wages highest poverty rates, worst education systems and the most unhealthy and uninsured population in the country. Please do some research before shooting your mouth off. What NY has may not be perfect but it’s better than what Republicans offer. Fact!!

No. I’m talking about the democratic states like st Louis, Detroit, Chicago, Baltimore, San Francisco who have the highest crime rates. Don’t make idiotic claims when you haven’t done your own research.

@Andy- San Francisco??? States?? Where do you do your research? Obviously you’re Fox informed. You got 3 ( “cities” not states)out of 5 right, so you’re marginal at best. San Francisco and Chicago don’t make the top 10 or even close. Stockton, Memphis, Birmingham, Cleveland, Buffalo Atlanta, Oakland, Kansas City MO Milwaukee Baltimore St. Louis Detroit and Indianapolis. I listed the top 13 including the 3 you got right. Billy is right, it appears you’ve done no research whatsoever. This ones on me. Don’t be such an informed blowhard.

The question is why woman walking at 2:55 AM alone by herself even if the area is safe This is like don’t. drink and drive. No one can protect you. If you don’t protect yourself

Exactly! A woman has to be outside only during sunlight and with a man’s company. And not any man, it has to be the husband or father (or we can think that she has a not well approved moral)

Obviously this crime is the woman’s fault just for walking free.

That’s not what we are saying. Just be extra cautious. Uber. This can’t be that hard to take some responsibility to keep yourself safe.

I have lived in Sunnyside since the 1950’s and have always told my friends and relatives to avoid walking on the cemetery side of Queens Blvd. especially at night.

It’s great your kids don’t work the night shift. Lots of adults need to, so they can have a home to go to.

And you never know who’s outside at any time of day.

Thate exactly the case. I don’t care what your progressive views are. In the real world, in any time of mankind if you’re out late when you’re not supposed to, you’re asking for trouble

What are the hours of “supposed to”? Should women have a curfew of 9 pm? In the winter, it gets dark so early, should they be locked up starting at 4 pm?

What time of day should they be assaulted for it not to be their fault?

I work at the airport and I’ve had some pretty crazy shifts. Last year I started at 3 AM, which meant Jamaica after midnight. This year I was getting off at midnight and walking through Sunnyside after 2 AM.

If you live here, you should be able to walk outside and not automatically be in danger; fortunately, in NYC, that’s pretty much the case. I never felt as if I was in danger but there are 8 million people here and we’re the most densely populated city in the country. The odds are that occasionally there will be random acts of violence.

Many people will tout this case as proof that NYC is dangerous but it’s not. Nevertheless, we should all realize that stuff like this happens and we need to make an effort to stay alert and be safe.

I know. But watch yourself. They will rip you a new one for suggesting that people take SOME responsibility for their actions.

Such an awful story but this is so typical for this area. Not even newsworthy at this point.

We need to have a townhall meeting with our local politicians and 108 and we need it now. This is nonsense. Obviously these criminals absolutely do not fear NYPD and they think they can simply get away with this. Maybe we need more undercover cops at night instead of cops just sitting in their cruisers.

The 108 holds monthly meetings – meetings typically take place on the last Tuesday of each month at 7:00 PM at the Sunnyside Senior Center.

My old Sunnyside/Woodside ain’t no more. Animals live there now. Wouldn’t even take my kids there for a nostalgia visit.

I get what you’re coming from. I’m 31 and it was even different when I was growing up there. Took my kids back this year to show them where I grew up and honestly feared for our safety – physcopaths screaming and banging on cars at stop lights, just nutjobs everywhere. How did it get like this?

Even living there for one year this last year things changed. Lots more sketchy people walking up and down the streets and fighting at all times of the day.

You people are ridiculous and exaggerating. I have lived here 60 plus years and yes idiot Deboasio has put many bums on the Blvd but the place is still far from scary. You all sound like timid snowflakes.

A lot of the crimes being committed here are by people from outside of Sunnyside/Queens. Many good people still live here.
