Representative Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez is already a social media and TV sensation.
On May 1, you can watch on Netflix how she gained that prominence and rose to power.
“Knock Down the House” shows Ocasio-Cortez’s time on the campaign trail leading up to her historic primary upset against powerful incumbent Democrat Joe Crowley.
The congresswoman’s campaign is one of the four political bids by progressive female candidates that the Sundance Film Festival award-winning documentary follows.
Netflix acquired the rights to the film back in February for a record $10 million—the biggest documentary sale ever brokered at a film festival.
Director Rachel Lears said the platform will allow the film to “reach huge audiences worldwide, including viewers who may not usually watch independent documentaries.”
“We’re also very excited to be working with Netflix on a campaign to spark wider cultural conversations about our democracy and how it can continue to evolve,” Lears said in a statement.
Ocasio-Cortez spoke to the attendees at the Sundance Film Festival via live feed when the film was screened in January.

Common misconception that poor people vote for AOC, I can say I’m in the higher income bracket and I love her. I think she’s loved by the you her generation that will eventually have to deal with climate change.
