A man was struck and killed by a 7 train at the 52nd Street-Roosevelt Avenue subway station, officials said.
The incident took place at 1:31 p.m., when he was hit by a Flushing-bound train as it pulled into the station, according to the FDNY. He was dead on the scene.
Police said no criminality was suspected.
Many people claimed that they saw the victim jump in front of the train.

Who cares where the exact location s? A man took his own life and it’s a tragedy for him, his family and his friends. It’s very sad to see someone doing that but they see no light at the end of the tunnell which s so sad. Stop all the nitpicking on this site it’s just so silly and if u want to do it then use your real name.

What an awful story. I feel sorry for the man and his family. So many tragedies happen.
Pray that none of you or your family are even in such a dark pit of despair as to take your own life in such a gruesome manner.
It’s sad enough that someone is in such an emotional abyss that they take their own life. It’s even more tragic that they would chose such a terrifying and painful way to die. Somebody in such a miserable state of mind probably isn’t thinking about your commute as inconsiderate as that may seem.
I am dismayed by the discourse above re: the first post which was written prior to an update. “Can’t you read?” so many chimed in even though the person writing could clearly write so probably can read. A proper response might have been. “I’m confused, the article says … what makes you think….” instead of insulting the person.
I often wonder if some kind of regulated comment system here, not anonymous, would hold people accountable for how they present their discourse. I really wish it could be civilized and respectful.

in Japan, if you choose to commit suicide via jumping in front of a moving train, your family gets fined for inconveniencing the other passengers and delaying the tightly run system. Can you imagine this happening here???
In all seriousness, this is such a sad story. I heard there were a lot of people crying at the scene – may the man rest in peace.
The Doodieheads are a proud people. I knew a Doodiehead once, he was a real corny fella.
As for this guy jumping in front of a train. Why these people wanna ruin our commutes? can’t they find other more considerate ways of killing themselves? I’m trying to get home for a 4 day weekend !
I guess cameras would not have helped. However, that is a very isolated station and several years ago two “friends” (both underaged) who had been drinking illegally at a nearby bar, had a “disgreement” and one threw the other one onto the tracks at the 52nd Street station and yup, he was killed. What are friends for?

The story was updated over the course of 5 to 10 minutes. Perhaps the story should have stated “updated” at the top.
Therefore, the story did change from the time that Linda first read it.
