The police are looking for a man who allegedly swiped an 85-year-old woman’s wallet at the 46th Street-Bliss subway station Friday after initially helping her get to the train.

The suspect helped the elderly woman get into the station at about 1 p.m. yesterday before removing her purse that contained $130 in cash, a debit card and personal papers, according to police.

The suspect then fled the location in an unknown direction. The woman was uninjured.

The police did obtain video footage of the suspect taken from 47-01 Queens Blvd prior to the incident.

The suspect is described as Hispanic, in his 30s, about 5 feet tall and 125 pounds. He was last seen wearing blue jeans, a white T-shirt, dark-colored shoes, and a blue baseball cap.

Anyone with information in regards to this incident is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782).

Yes but remember all the benefits these immigrants bring….so what if he mugs an old lady? Look at all the taxes he pays! and how much he contributes……these are the people that will make america great. We need to do away with ICE then more like him can get here and contribute to the rising crime and social burden….

Check your facts to find out how much immigrants contribute to the economy. Are you sure the “suspect” was here illegally? What’s really needed are elevators at various 7 train stations so the elderly and infirm can get to the train.

Oh but they are! Haven’t you noticed all those little blue and white cars stenciled NYPD, and all those little men walking around in blue uniforms carrying little hand-held computers? They’re all over Queens Blvd., Roosevelt Ave., and 74th St.
Your tax dollars at work!

Lawmakers secure federal funding to combat flooding in Queens after impact of Hurricane Ida and other storms

U.S. Congresswomen Grace Meng and Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez, along with Senate Democratic Leader Chuck Schumer, announced on Jan. 7 that President Joe Biden has signed their legislation into law to address severe flooding in Queens.

The measure aims to mitigate future disasters like those caused by the remnants of Hurricane Ida in September 2021, which inundated the borough with record-shattering rainfall.

Op-ed | New York’s ground lease co-ops: Our families can’t wait any longer

Jan. 14, 2025 By Michael Tang

Last December brought a long-awaited victory for New York City. Our City Council adopted the historic City of Yes housing plan, paving the way for more than 80,000 new homes by 2040 with the promise of affordability. As a longtime resident of Flushing, Queens, I naturally welcomed the news – it’s a much-needed reprieve for New Yorkers as housing costs continue to soar in the midst of an unparalleled housing crisis. But entering 2025 on the heels of this win, we residents at  Murray Hill Cooperative remain at risk — our lives are virtually unchanged because we belong to the last class of unprotected “tenants” as ground lease co-op residents. Without legislative action, more than 25,000 New Yorkers face the threat of losing their homes — homes that we own — to landowners seeking to raise our ground rent to astronomical rates.
