Full-Service Pet Grooming Shop Opens on Queens Boulevard

Madagascar Pet Services (Queens Post)

Oct. 10, 2018 By Nathaly Pesantez

A new pet grooming service has opened in the neighborhood, joining the several grooming shops in the area.

Madagascar Pets Services officially debuted on 39-32 Queens Blvd. last Monday, and offers a lineup of grooming services including baths, ear cleaning and plucking, clipper work and facial cleaning.

The site also provides medical baths to help treat fleas, ticks, and irritated skin, and dental work including teeth cleaning and dental scaling to remove plaque and tartar buildup.

Pet products are also available to purchase, including clothing, food, toys, and home grooming tools.

Rosy Montesinos, a self-described animal lover and first-time business owner, said the shop was a long time coming.

“I wanted to bring a good service here in Sunnyside,” Montesinos said. “Many people are moving here with pets.”

Montesinos, who lives in Sunnyside, has eight years of grooming experience, and ran a veterinary practice in her native Peru with her husband prior to moving to the United States about a decade ago. Her parents, she said, also ran a pet shop in Peru.

Prior to getting her professional pet grooming license, Montesinos worked at a veterinary assistant at an animal hospital in the Bronx and in Astoria.

Madagascar Pet Services is open Tuesday through Friday from 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. and until 6 p.m. on weekends. The shop opens at 11:30 a.m. on Sundays.

A full list of services and prices are listed on the shop’s website.

wish i could have a dog, but leaving one locked up in a cage for 12-14 hours while i’m at work is not something i would consider.

Fair point. Unlike “libs,” dogs don’t bother getting into arguments with irrational people.

“You’re posts” is Your posts. “Words.?” Is words. Lol. And Good Luck to Rosy Montesinos, always good to see a local that is able to start up a business in the neighborhood , especially with her extensive backround.
