A new chicken & ribs restaurant opened in Sunnyside on Thursday.

Sunrise Restaurant & Grill, located at 41-08 Greenpoint Ave. (the former location of Floresta) specializes in BBQ chicken, BBQ ribs as well as buffalo wings and snow crab legs.

The owner, Adam James, previously ran a number of restaurants that specialized in buffalo wings, before selling them to Planet Wings, a large restaurant chain.

Sunrise Bar & Grill offers, among others, the following dishes:

  • A chicken & baby back ribs combo (combo–served with corn bread and a choice of baked potato, rice or fries) will cost $11.99.
  • Half chicken combo for $8.99
  • BBQ chicken and fried shrimp combo for $13.99
  • 10 pieces of buffalo wings for $7.95 (flavors: nuclear, hot, mild, medium, garlic parmesan, honey bbq, thai chili, honey mustard & jerk)
  • Kids menu for about $5 per child

The restaurant does take-out and delivery (minimum: $10:00) and caters to private parties. The phone number is 718-361-7473 and web site is http://www.sunrisegrillny.com

The restaurant opens at 6:00 am and offers a breakfast menu– from eggs, waffles, sausages to pancakes.

The restaurant plans to open a bar, which will eventually sell frozen Margaritas, Daiquiris and the usual fare.

How long does a restaurant need to be open before inspection for a sanitation rating? Harmony Terrace, on 41st Street near Greenpoint Avenue, has been operating for a number of years, but still doesn’t display a sanitation rating.

Floresta was a great place and I was quite sad to see it go. Their prices were quite reasonable. I’m very happy to see a new place open and I hope it gets the support of the neighborhood.

As drone hysteria swept from New Jersey across the Hudson River to New York City on Thursday night, fueled by online reports of nearly a dozen large drones spotted over Queens, a genuine emergency unfolded in the skies above the borough.

The Port Authority and Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) confirmed that a flight out of LaGuardia Airport earlier in the evening was forced to make an emergency landing at JFK Airport after a bird strike blew out an engine on the aircraft.
