Skillman Ave. Residents Maybe at Risk

The Buckeye pipeline that transports 130,000 gallons of fuel oil to LaGuardia Airport is putting many Sunnyside residents at risk, according to people that were interviewed in a story published by the QueensTribune.

The story comes just weeks after the jet oil spill on Skillman Avenue, when hundreds of gallons of fuel oil flooded the street following an error by an MTA contractor. The pipeline goes primarily through industrial areas but it does pass by some homes and Torsney Playground on Skillman Ave.

Terrorists attempted to bomb a different section of the pipeline in 2007, according to the story.
