A Woodside wedding venue and a Flushing karaoke bar were both shut down by authorities over the weekend for having large indoor crowds in breach of COVID-19 restrictions.

The New York City Sheriff’s Dept. brought an abrupt end to a wedding celebration being held at the Royal Elite Palace on 69-02 Garfield Ave. in Woodside around midnight Friday.

Authorities, after receiving an anonymous complaint, discovered 300 people celebrating inside the establishment drinking and dancing to live music. The partygoers gained entry to the venue through an indoor parking area.

The reception was shut down and the crowd dispersed. Both the manager and the owner were taken into custody and given appearance tickets. They face misdemeanor charges for violating social distancing requirements., among other misdemeanor charges.

The following night Home Run KTV at 46-07 Kissena Blvd. was shut down when authorities found nearly 200 revelers in the facility’s karaoke rooms.

The owner is facing several citations after authorities found patrons drinking, smoking and not wearing masks. The establishment also did not have an active liquor license.
