A woman was sexually assaulted and robbed at gunpoint behind a rear yard in Woodside last week, according to police.
The victim, 36, was walking in the vicinity of 70th Street and Roosevelt Avenue at around 1:15 a.m. on Monday, March 15, when a man displayed a gun and led her to a house two blocks away.
The woman was taken to the rear yard at 41-47 70th St. where he sexually assaulted her. He then took $60 and her cellphone from her coat pocket and fled on foot, southbound on 70th St.
The victim left the scene and then reported the incident to police.
The suspect is described as either white or white-Hispanic, and is believed to be about 20- to 25-years-old. He was seen wearing a black jacket, light color pants and black sneakers.
A photo and video of the suspect were taken at a deli located at 68-30 Roosevelt Ave. about 20 minutes before the incident.
Anyone with information in regard to this incident is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the Crime Stoppers website at WWW.NYPDCRIMESTOPPERS.COM, or on Twitter @NYPDTips.
The area around 74th street and Roosevelt is toxic, everyday on the Citizen app I see 2 to 4 crimes reported. How is it possible that there is no police presence in that area. There used to be police there all the time before, where are they now.
A good example should be set and this criminal should get life (without parole). I think the crime is bad enough for it, isn’t it?
I wish decent people like this woman were were allowed to be armed. This punk would have had his bollox shot off.
