A 39-year-old woman suffered a broken jaw after she was randomly punched in the face while riding the 7 train in Long Island City earlier this month, police announced Tuesday.
The woman, police said, was riding a Manhattan-bound 7 train as it approached the Hunters Point Avenue subway station on June 12 at around 2:10 a.m. when a man approached her and slugged her in the face for no apparent reason.
The suspect then got off the train when it stopped at the station and fled.
The woman was transported by EMS to NYC Health + Hospitals / Bellevue in stable condition and was treated for a broken jaw.
It is unclear whether the woman was standing or sitting down when she was hit. Police say the suspect shouted at her before he allegedly struck her. Police do not know what the man said since the victim only speaks Spanish and did not understand what he was saying.
Police released an image Tuesday of the man wanted for questioning in relation to the attack.
The man is described as being dark-skinned, about 6 feet tall and between 25 and 30 years of age. He is believed to weigh about 160 pounds and was last seen wearing a black sweatshirt and black pants.

The punk that did this isn’t the victim. He’s an insensitive jerk who should spend 5-10 years in prison for intending to hurt an innocent victim. The fact that he punched a woman shows he’s a coward as well. I can’t believe some people actually feel the way Samatha does. The even sadder thing is when he is caught he’ll get a slap on the wrist then feel even more emboldened do punch another woman. Maybe an old woman if he hasn’t already.

Yes, the removal of crossing guards and school safety officers from the NYPD budget ($350 Million in savings or some say cut) and $200 Million cut in civilian overtime caused this.
I’m sure where you live (I highly doubt in Queens), the crime rate is 0.0%, the sky is always sunny, the grass is always green and perfectly cut, and the birds are always chirping, but stand on the corner of any block on Northern or Queens Blvd, and I bet you’ll either hear a siren, loud music, or illegal dirt bikes on the street.
