Wheelchair Bound Bank Robber Arrested, Faces Up to 7-years in Prison

Jan. 6, 2016 By Christian Murray

A wheelchair-bound man who allegedly robbed the TD Bank branch in Sunnyside on Monday has been arrested, according to the Queens District Attorney’s Office.

Kelvin Dennison, 23, from Astoria, allegedly entered the TD Bank branch located at 41-01 Queens Boulevard on Monday, January 4, 2016, and approached a teller window, where he handed the teller a note that stated: “Give me $20,000. I have a bomb. I will shoot.” After the teller handed Dennison $500, he exited the bank and wheeled himself south on Queens Boulevard.

“The defendant did not allow his disability to hinder him from breaking the law or frightening a bank employee by claiming that he was armed with a bomb and a firearm,” said Queens District Attorney Richard A Brown in a statement.

Dennis faces third-degree robbery charges, which is punishable up to seven years in prison.

Dennison was previously arrested on July 1, 2015, and charged with similarly robbing the Santander Bank, located at 37-10 Broadway in Astoria on the afternoon of June 29, 2015. In that case, Dennison who was in his wheelchair handed the teller a note which read “Give me all you have. I have a gun.”

The teller handed him $1,200

Can I just say what a relief to find somebody that genuinely understands
what they are talking about on the web. You actually know how to bring an issue to light and
make it important. A lot more people need to check this out and
understand this side of the story. I was surprised you are not more popular since you most certainly have the gift.

Stop using such archaic terms to describe people with disabilities. It is not” wheelchair bound”,” handicapped”, “confined to” it is, person with a disability.

At least George from Seinfeld had a motorized wheel chair when he was faking disability.

Was the getaway car in the handicapped parking zone? Or did the cops trace his wheelchair GPS?

How is is possible that somebody arrested in July for robbing a bank can be footloose and fancy free (so to speak) in January? Isn’t that worth reporting on as well?

Three square meals a day! Eat, sleep, watch TV, roof over one’s head! No bills to pay! Taxpayers can be concerned about that!

I’d like to know how he stayed so calm waiting in line while one teller helped customers and the other 3 pretended to be doing something

Whoa! Let’s stop with the condemnation of this man. Let’s applaud him. It’s good to see this handicapped man is not held back by his disability. It’s about time we had more disabled people committing felonies. It’s the first step of integrating wheel-chair bound people into criminal society. With any luck we’ll have a lot more hold-ups, stick-ups, robberies, muggings, kidnappings and well, you name it, just as long as we include our wheel-chair bound brethren.

When criticizing try to spell correctly or it makes you look not so swift. You’re welcome.

So much for feeling sorry for the “disabled”! Adrian and I are very upset that this guy overcame his “disability” in such a bad way. Please see my next movie!

but the streets that intersect it go north and south; thus he could have been travelling south on QB, which basically means he crossed both the East and West sides of the blvd. to the other side.

He might have been given more loot if he had used the word “detonate” instead of (I will) “shoot”

pray he stays in jail along with the other idiots — but wait as his family would say he is a good boy

Arrested was arrested on a similar robbery but was out to rob again? I guess the wheels of justice grind slowly.

He robbed another bank 6 months ago, and is out of confinement to commit the same crime.

I will never understand.
