Wespaw Pets to offer Veterinary Wellness Clinic Sunday

Sunnyside pet store Wespaw Pets has partnered with On the Go Veterinary Services to offer its first ever Veterinary Wellness Clinic on Sunday from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m.

The clinic will be held in Wespaw Pets, located at 44-05 Queens Boulevard, and will offer services for dogs and cats including vaccinations, microchips, general exams and testing, basic medical treatment, and domestic health certificates. There will be fees for such services.

Though Wespaw Pets has held adoption clinics periodically, this will be its first wellness clinic. The store often gets referral requests for dog walkers, pet sitters, trainers and veterinarians, so Sam Abdrabouh, the owner of the store, decided to offer the clinic to help his customers take care of their pets.

On the Go, started in 2013 by Michael Berman, provides traveling vet care for the five boroughs and beyond. He graduated from Michigan State University with a BS in Animal Science and went on to earn his DVM degree from Ross University School of Veterinary Medicine, and has volunteered with several rescue groups throughout the area. Berman has lived in Western Queens for the past eight years.

A portion of the fees generated from the event will be donated to the Sunnyside United Dog Society. “The members of SUDS along with the amazing people of Sunnyside have continued to show love and support to the store so doing events and giving back is the least we can do,” Abdrabouh said in a statement.

Whoever runs this”s.u.d.s.” doesnt answer emails. I inquired several times and never received a reply. I have several friends who told me that the same thing happened to them. I guess whoever runs it doesn’t answer if your not in his clique,or you didnt offer to donate anything.

Same thing happened to me. I wanted to get involved with RD and SUDS and I got no answer. Now I want to bring Rick Duro and his squirrel loving dog owners down! Rick is a phony.

This is fantastic. I love this place!!! The owner and staff are incredible. I wouldn’t shop anywhere else. They even have a pharmacy that is way cheaper than that overpriced place in the city. My finicky cat loves the taste of her meds now. She gets excited when its time to take it. She doesn’t scratch and try to run anymore. Sam and the team really care about pets and their wellness. Let’s please keep supporting them with the store and pharmacy so they can stay around forever. I know I will

Sam @ Wespaw Pets has always been one of SUDS’ greatest champions. Over the last 3 years he has bought us pools, hoses, poop bags, you name it. A true class act and a kinder man I do not know. Thank you for looking out for us, Sam!

This is a great pet store with helpful and friendly employees. I met the owner at their pharmacy in Astoria. Great guy. Thanks for being in the neighborhood!

Homeless men charged in deadly 7 train subway brawl in Woodside: DA

Three homeless men were arraigned in Queens Criminal Court on Tuesday and variously charged with felony robbery, attempted gang assault, and assault for allegedly stealing the belongings of a 69-year-old homeless man who was asleep on a Manhattan-bound 7 train in Woodside early Sunday morning.

The victim woke up and tried to regain his property. During the ensuing brawl, the victim fatally stabbed a 37-year-old assailant and slashed a second man. The victim has not been charged in the fatal stabbing. The investigation by the NYPD’s Queens Homicide Squad and members of the 108th Precinct in Long Island City remains ongoing.
