A large piece of Queens Blvd real estate is for sale–being marketed as ideal for hotels and condos.
The property, located on the corner of Queens Blvd and 60th Street, is on the market for $4.5 million and is currently occupied by a laundromat, deli, Irish pub, Italian restaurant and a beauty salon.
The real estate firm listing the site, Winzone Realty, is pitching the location as a “Prime Area For Hotels, Long Term Residence Hotel, Buildable Condos/Retail Space.” (click for listing)
The property, which is located across Queens Boulevard from the Big Six Towers, is owned by C.E.K. REALTY CORP, which is registered to the address of 44-08 60th Street.
C.E.K. could not be reached for comment.
The property is zoned C2/R7X, which typically permits 9-13 story buildings.
The existing building was originally developed in the early 1900s as part of the Childs Restaurant chain, which constructed ornate buildings throughout the city at the time. While few Childs buildings are left, there is another building on 43rd Avenue in Sunnyside that is occupied by Rite Aid.

RIP Charlie. He passed on recently
If you have a reporter sitting around doing nothing send them out to the Buildings Dept and try to find out if this building, or any of the other similar Queens buildings, was ever really a Childs Restaurant. None of them appear in the Phone Directories for 1929 thru 1935.
Charlie is just cashing in his chips. The old Woodside is gone and he is getting out while the price is right. Greed came in and poisoned all.
Oldster………..People have the right to do what they want with their property.
If this guy has owned the place for years he has every right to sell it for what the current market value is and go on and enjoy whats left of his life.
Who are you to say he is poisoned by greed. You obviously don’t own anything
I don’t think this information is correct. Charlie has owned that whole block for like forever.
well, i don’t know Charlie but maybe he’s looking to move on. here’s the listing:

Now the neighborhood will really be shot! Get ready for hookers and pimps on 60 street! What a shame.
One more ugly, glass box coming up.
The ugliness of these glass buildings is astounding. and just how many people do they plan on squeezing into these neighborhoods??? wake up New York. Stop being so greedy.
They’ll just keep cramming more people in until the infrastructure implodes.
Future generations will look back and blame not just the developers but the corrupt politicians who aided and abetted them.
I like the old Childs buildings. I had been meaning to go to Charlie’s Pub for a while now – it looks cute but is a bit of a walk for me.
those building are tacky. I like the history, but the building is ugly, needs to go.
