A video has gone viral of progressive Congresswoman Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez being heckled by two protesters who said her decision to support Ukraine’s war effort against Russia could lead to nuclear Armageddon.

The video, which has generated more than 7 million views on Twitter, shows two demonstrators yelling at Ocasio-Cortez for voting to send tens of billions of dollars to Ukraine to help finance its war efforts. They accused her of being a war hawk and said she initially ran for office as an anti-establishment outsider.

The incident took place Wednesday while Ocasio-Cortez was hosting a town hall meeting at a Bronx High School for residents of Congressional District 14, which also covers northwestern Queens.

Ocasio-Cortez was speaking at the forum to discuss legislation such as the Inflation Reduction Act but was disrupted during the Q&A portion of the sparsely attended event.

“Congresswoman. None of this matters if there’s a nuclear war, which you voted to send arms and weapons to Ukraine,” the first protester shouted, according to a video posted on Twitter. The video was uploaded by one of the demonstrators.

The protester then invoked the name of Tulsi Gabbard, a former congressmember who ditched the Democratic Party earlier this week citing a number of reasons including the party’s support of the war.

“Tulsi Gabbard, she’s left the Democratic Party because they’re a bunch of war hawks,” the heckler continued.

“You ran as an outsider, yet you’ve been voting to start this war in Ukraine. You’re voting to start a third nuclear war with Russia and China. Why are you playing with the lives of American citizens?”

“You’re playing with our lives,” he shouts.

Some opponents of the war argue that Russian President Vladimir Putin might use tactical nuclear weapons if Russia looks like it will lose and face humiliation. They argue that the U.S. should be trying to seek a negotiated peace as opposed to supplying weaponry.

Another heckler then joins in and yells at Ocasio-Cortez, warning her of nuclear Armageddon unless she stands up to her party. The House, which is controlled by the Democrats, voted in favor of sending $40 billion in military and humanitarian aid to Ukraine in May and a further $12.3 billion to the war-torn country last month.

“There will be no neighbors if there is a nuclear bomb,” the protester says. “You voted to mobilize and send money to Ukrainian Nazis.”

The second protester then accuses Ocasio-Cortez of being part of the establishment and calls on her to stand up to the Democratic Party, like Gabbard.

“You’re a coward…I believed in you, and you became the very thing you sought to fight against,” the demonstrator can be heard saying.

“You are the reason everybody will end up in a nuclear war unless you choose to stand up right now and denounce the Democratic Party. Will you do that?”

He then has a back-and-forth with Ocasio-Cortez who accuses him of being rude.

The Queens Post reached out to Ocasio-Cortez’s office for comment but has yet to receive a response.

The Congresswoman’s only public response to the incident appears to be via a tweet she sent to MSNBC host Mehdi Hasan, who called the interaction “one of the dumbest things” he had ever seen.

“Screaming hysterically about opposing war while praising Tulsi Gabbard, avoiding any mention of Vladimir Putin, and blaming… AOC. Embarrassing,” Hasan wrote.

Ocasio-Cortez responded to the tweet, writing that the pair had also yelled over a deaf constituent.

“The worst part (which of course they cut from the clip) is the fact that they were yelling over a **deaf constituent** asking a question, and continued to do so when it was made clear to them that they were yelling over a person with a disability,” Ocasio-Cortez wrote.

Ocasio-Cortez’s District 14 covers Astoria, College Point, Corona, North Corona, East Elmhurst, Elmhurst, Jackson Heights, Sunnyside and Woodside in Queens.

Wasn’t she the one who was pretending to be rude in the name of social justice? Come on now! She’s a huge disappointment and I’m SO incredibly proud of those men who stood up and called out her BS!

Democrats in 2016: Get in their face and make them uncomfortable.

Democrats in 2022: YOU’RE BEING RUDE!

So her tweets do not count when the anger and questions are addressed to her about her actions.
Alexandria Ocasio-Cortez
@AOC
The whole point of protesting is to make ppl uncomfortable.
Activists take that discomfort w/ the status quo & advocate for concrete policy changes. Popular support often starts small & grows.
To folks who complain protest demands make others uncomfortable… that’s the point.

That was not a heckler, that was a voter demanding accountability for her not acting as promised to her constituents. We should all be doing this everywhere when they lie to us and serve themselves once in office and not us.

AOC………. voted to send money for the war. She turned on all her young adult voters. The majority of us approve of the USA sending aid/missiles/help to Ukraine.

Ukraine is done. They might as well negotiate peace talks or surrender. USA would never allow neighboring countries to be a part of a Russian/China alliance and have weapons pointed at us. Putin was basically trying to stop Ukraine from Joining NATO.

Many of what are considered “establishment” progressives (Pelosi, Biden, Obama, the Clintons) do not have conflict with their brand of progressivism. The group that AOC and Bernie catered to are largely against war for any reason. If AOC were seeking to appeal to the establishment liberals, she wouldn’t get flack for this. But many who initially supported her are against sending money to Ukraine and participating in war for any reason. That is why she is getting flack from people who initially supported her.

Why do people think that Putin is bluffing and why would anyone take that chance?! It’s best to force both countries into peace by staying neutral.

Are two hecklers really news, or is it that this video went “viral”? Yes, ALL elected politicians will find themselves out in front of voters with whom they are unpopular. AOC has more than her share but also an abundance of voters who really like her. I’m not sure what happened here has any significance. The only people spreading this video around are those who resent her popularity. The words of the hecklers aren’t really insightful or have any real meaning. What here is really so newsworthy?

Did you read the article or listen to the video? So when a conservative speaks and some yahoo like yourself heckles “men can have babies” we will remember your comment.

Yes, to both of your questions. A couple of hecklers isn’t really news. This is only “viral” because it brings joy to conservatives who are triggered by AOC. It kills them that their outspoken members are Rubio, Graham, and Cruz.

I’m old enough to remember 2014, when Republicans were shaming and criticizing Obama for not doing enough to help Ukraine and not standing up to Putin by using our military. Now they call them “Ukrainian Nazis” and think they should all die. These supposed free thinking intellectuals are skeptical of everything the American government tells them but have been manipulated into believing and spouting 100% of Russian propaganda. Maybe they should be more concerned that Trump and Co. sold our nuclear secrets to Saudi Arabia and Russia. How else did Jared suddenly get that 2 billion? Good job, Trump!

AOC has zero experience in anything before becoming a Congresswoman. Next we’ll be sending ” Change!”
to congress. people just vote for her because she is a young Hispanic and women. Congressmen write law and pass bills that will become law. what you have now law degree thats ok at least you were very successful and well respected in your profession. what? no you were just a part time waitress. I think you should be in charge of the largest economy in the world. Great job Queens

Gullible democrats think men can get pregnant.

Lobbyists and partisan think tanks write laws, not congressmen or women. Hell, they don’t even read them through before voting on them.

Let’s get our priorities straight, worse than yelling over a disabled person’s voice is promoting a nuclear war with nuclear armed Russia. Also, 99% of the media doesn’t give this anti-war opinion ANY exposure. Like any person that tries to counter government propaganda, (Vietnam) it must be done in an impolite manner.
