Disturbing video has gone viral of a slashing that took place on the 7 train in Woodside last week.
The video shows two straphangers, both in their 70s, being attacked by a man with a pocket knife on a Manhattan-bound train– between 61st Street and 52nd Street– at around 7:25 a.m. July 5.
The knife wielding man, identified as Patrick Chambers, 46, slashed one of the men in the stomach and the chest in what police say was an unprovoked attack.
Another man, tried to intervene and was attacked but Chambers who slashed the man’s left wrist and upper chest, police said.
Chambers was arrested by police after the train pulled into the 52nd St. station. He has been charged with assault, menacing and criminal possession of a weapon.
The two seniors were transferred by EMS to Elmhurst Hospital with non-life-threatening wounds, according to police.

I can’t believe the comments calling for people to understand the slasher. I don’t care what his circumstances are, he deserves long incarceration, if not a vigilante beating.

We are so quick to judge someone. We never know anyone’s situation. Homelessness is a community thing, it affects all of us. We never know why someone is homeless, you can have it all today and gone tomorrow. In this case being a witness of the incident it’s sad. We are in a pandemic, political crisis and the job market sucks. We need to fix and help our communities before judging others. Prime example moving passengers to the next cart away from this individual.
The uptick is happening because people had been cooped up at home until it got very hot and rioting was encouraged. Its the new norm. I need to stock up on more popcorn.
This is one of many examples in the past months! The media/officials are saying and doing nothing about violence against particular people!

The news media is talking about violence and crime in NYC like they are discussing the weather. On Saturday there were 10 shots fired, on Sunday there were 6, 3 people were killed and 2 taken to the hospital, blah blah blah and now lets focus on the “Karen” that coughed in the bagel store..our team are on scene to discuss race privilege. Its laughable.
This crime is partly due to some local and national politicians and movements labeling all older white men as racists and evil. This includes most of main stream media who air such statements and hardly show footage to condemn it. If this had been a white man stabbing minorities the news media and our local politicians would of blamed it on trump, whites and republicans .
That is so disturbing but unfortunately not a surprise for the 7 train and for Woodside.

Let’s defund the police!!! Let’s end bail. Let’s get rid of Rikers. Maybe an intervention would have stopped it. Maybe if someone would have talked nice to the slasher. Maybe if his mother would have been nicer. Maybe if his third grade teacher would have been nicer. It’s time for decent people – Black, White, Asian, Hispanic to stand up to this chaos that is engulfing our city. Do something DeBlasio or quit!

That’s the problem with this City!!! Too many insane people are allowed to be out alone without anyone taking care and responsibility of them.
We have the mayor, governor and city council to thank for this. The mayor constantly stands against the police (since it’s popular) while he releases criminals, mentally ill and puts average tax paying citizens last. Every criminal caught for this sort of thing has a long criminal record and is repetitively released. It’s one of many reasons why long term residents are leaving the city in droves. When will the voters of this city realize we need honest politicians with a back bone and not an agenda to stay in office at the expense of its’ citizens?
Hope the victims are recovering ok. This video is frightening. This attacker needs to be behind bars.

A 2-year-old boy was also slashed in the face in a random unprovoked attack in NYC last week. News media did not make a big deal out of it. But I was horrified.
If it doesn’t fit the current narrative it’s not really news.
