Step right up!

A traveling funfair is coming to Astoria Park this week and carnival-goers will get a chance to enjoy various amusement rides, games, plus plenty of food and candy!

The funfair, operated by Dreamland Amusements, will set up at the corner of Hoyt Avenue and 19th Street – under the RFK bridge – and run from July 7 through July 11.

A Ferris wheel will rise high up into the air while thrill-seekers can test their nerves on some spectacular rides like the Super Himalaya, the Dream Catcher and the Zipper, according to a company spokesperson.

There will also be a range of children’s rides as well as some carnival-inspired games for families to take part in like balloon pop and lucky ducky.

The funfair will be open from 4 p.m. to 11 p.m. on July 7 through July 9, and from noon to 11 p.m. on July 10 and July 11. Expect the funfair to come alive at night too with rides illuminating in LED lights!

Entry to the funfair is free, however, revelers will need to buy tickets to get on the rides.

A single ticket costs $1.50 while a batch of 20 tickets is $30. A bunch of fifty tickets is $60 – which entitles the holder to an additional free ride.

Tickets can be purchased at the venue.

Do we have to wear masks? Is social distancing required? Will they sanitize after each ride? Many people are struggling to pay bills and buy food. It should be free like the pool is to enter and use.

Residents beware! This fair has come under legal issues in several cities. When they get into trouble they just move from one city to another. Watch your kids!
