Nov. 22, 2016 Staff Report

A Sunnyside man has been arrested for the murder of his infant daughter, according to police.

Jorge Baque has been charged in the high-profile death of his 5-month-old daughter, Alaia Baque, who died after suffering eight skull fractures and a bruise to the back of her head in July.

On July 30, police responded to a call at 39-20 Greenpoint Avenue, and upon arrival found the child unconscious and unresponsive. The girl was transported to Elmhurst Hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.

Investigators deemed the death a homicide, and following a long investigation, charged Jorge Baque, the infant’s father, with second degree murder and Assault Acting In a Manner Injurious to a Child under the age of 17.

During the investigation, the child’s mother told investigators that the child obtained the injuries during a ritual to get rid of the “evil eye,” according to a report from the New York Daily News, though the arrest of Baque indicates that this was not the case.

The second-degree murder charge carries with it a minimum sentence of 15 years in prison, with a maximum of 25 years to life in prison.

ugh

It sucks when you want a family but can’t have children and then hear stories about idiotic, ungrateful, disturbed people like this.

The majority of Sunnyside post comments are really taking low road on this tragedy. Then again, this is likely one angry person who is alone on Thanksgiving and is signing in under different names over and over again. And this person is a sad person. Chances are that this person will not be happy with my comment. Just taking a guess on all of this of course.

The low road? Maybe we are just sick of stuff like this happening? It doesn’t take a villiage to raise a child it takes responsible parents and family something that really seems to be lacking these days..

You’re so right. They are sad and lonely and venting their rage on an article about a murdered baby.

If that five-month old child had been killed six months earlier, it would have been considered a right by the Supreme Court and a lot of you liberals.

Terrible story. Welcome to “multiculturalism”. Remember, all cultures and beliefs are “equal”. Don’t dare to dissent!

I’m afraid you don’t understand what multiculturalism means. Crimes are not “equal” but keep drinking that kool-aid and trolling.

Evil Eye my ass.

Dumb ass people making babies they can’t or won’t take care of then blame the evil spirts for them murdering said child….Just think, if they went to a legal abortion clinic 12 months before hand NONE of this would have ever happened. All legal and on the up and up like… If you don’t want or can’t take care of children…do not bring them into this world… idiots..
