May 6, 2011 Staff Report

Skillman Mini Market, located on the south side of Skillman Ave. between 48th and 49th streets,  opened its doors for the first time today.

The store offers beer, fruit, beverages and groceries. The store’s hours are between 7am and 9:30pm.

The mini market replaces Skillman Grocery & Deli, a similar store, that closed last year. The owner of that store had managed it for near three decades.

Advocating for Non-Public Schools: A Conversation with Teach Coalition’s Maury Litwack

Jul. 1, 2024 by Jill Carvajal

Maury Litwack, founder and CEO of Teach Coalition talks about his organization’s mission and impact. Litwack emphasizes the significant non-public school population and their need for resources like healthy lunches, STEM education, and school safety measures. He highlights three main areas of focus: advocating for laws that reimburse non-public schools for STEM teacher salaries, securing funding for security measures to ensure student safety, and providing essential services, such as nurses, that schools might otherwise not afford.
