A Queens-based cookie chain is opening a location in Forest Hills next week.

Chip City, which was founded in Astoria, is opening a store at 72-34 Austin St. The grand opening will be on Friday, Jan 14 at 11 a.m. and the first 100 customers will receive a free cookie.

The cookie chain is best known for its “ooey gooey,” thick cookies and zany flavors. Some fan favorites include chocolate chip, funfetti, chocolate peanut butter, blueberry cheesecake, peanut butter & jelly, s’mores and lemon berry.

The company, originally known as Chip, has about 40 cookie recipes and offers a menu of four flavors that rotate daily in each store. The cookies are baked in-shop with premade batter mixed at Chip City’s commercial kitchen.

The new Forest Hills bakery will be the fifth Chip City in Queens and its tenth citywide.

The company has expanded significantly since it opened its first store in Astoria at 30-06 34th St. in July 2017. A year later, it opened its second shop in the Ditmars section of Astoria. It then opened one in Long Island City in 2019 and another in Sunnyside in 2020.

It has also opened three stores in Manhattan and two in Brooklyn since its founding, with several more on the way.

The company will debut its new Orville Redenbacher’s Chocolate Popcorn Crunch cookie at its Forest Hills shop as part of the grand opening.

The movie-theater nostalgic cookie will only be available on Jan. 14 at the Forest Hills location. Chip City will then offer it across all 10 of its locations starting Jan. 19 in honor of National Popcorn Day.
