Smyth, a United Federation of Teachers political strategist, has raised the most money in the district so far from private sources, $77,292, in addition to $125,605 in public funds from the city’s Matching Funds Program, for a total of over $200,000 in the hotly contested race.
Endeavor Air operated a Delta Airlines connection flight that crashed and flipped upside down when its wing struck the runway during a landing at Toronto Pearson International Airport on Monday, Feb. 17. All 80 people onboard survived the crash, but 21 were injured.

A man was struck by a 7 train at the 111th Street subway station in Corona early Tuesday morning in an apparent suicide attempt.
It was the third incident on the 7 line in five days after a man was killed when he jumped in front of a Manhattan-bound train at the 103rd St.-Corona Plaza station on Thursday afternoon, and a 13-year-old boy was critically injured while subway surfing at the 111th St. station on Friday morning.
