Police have released the name of a man wanted in connection to an assault and robbery of an 85-year-old woman—who was using a walker—in Jackson Heights last month.

Sidiky Gassama, 32, is being sought by police for allegedly approaching the elderly woman from behind and pushing her to the ground inside a garage located at 74-10 35th Ave. at around 7:05 p.m. on Dec. 9.

Police say that he then grabbed the 85-year-old’s purse that was in her walker and ran off. The purse contained the victim’s credit cards and her personal ID.

Gassama allegedly fled the location on foot to the 74th and Roosevelt Avenue subway station.

The elderly woman sustained minor injuries to the right side of her body and was treated on the scene by EMS.

Police released a photo of Gassama Thursday.

Anyone with information in regard to the whereabouts of Gassama is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477) or for Spanish, 1-888-57-PISTA (74782). The public can also submit their tips by logging onto the CrimeStoppers website at https://crimestoppers.nypdonline.org/ or on Twitter @NYPDTips.

People of color complain they are unfairly targeted. However, every time there’s a crime reported its people of color. You cannot argue with facts. Start locking criminals up again.

Everyone was so worried about a small group of “proud boys” who got into the subway for free (We all know they are just bark and no bite and are powerless here in NYC) while people like this are actually causing injury and harm to our community.

Shocker! Another person of color robbing an elderly person. Don’t worry. Should he be caught he’ll be treated well, given another chance, a few free meals, baseball tickets and asked politely not to do it again.
