Riko Peruvian Cuisine, formerly known as Pio Pio Riko, is opening a second Sunnyside location, according to its owner.

The restaurant, which currently occupies a prominent space at 45-23 Greenpoint Avenue, will be opening another spot at 43-22 Queens Blvd.

“Everything will be exactly the same,” as the Greenpoint Avenue restaurant, said the owner, who requested not to be named for the article.

The restaurant is best known for its rotisserie chicken, seafood and its rice & beans.

“We get a lot of lines where we are now,” the owner said. She added that the new location will draw some of its existing customers as well as new ones given its Queens Blvd location.

Riko will be taking over the space that was former occupied by Dj’s Pawn Shop, which closed earlier this year.

The restaurant will occupy a section of the Queens Blvd property—which incorporates stores such as Dave’s Bagels and Amazon Pharmacy—that was bought for $7.3 million in January, according to the real estate research firm Property Shark. This transaction, however, did not appear on New York City Department of Finance’s website ACRIS, which keeps property records.

Riko’s Queens Blvd. location is expected to open in November. This will be the fourth Riko restaurant, with operations in Jamaica and Manhattan.

Exactly the same? It’s only 2 blocks from the other restaurant – I’ll go to this one instead of that one. Why so close and why won’t this guy reveal his identity?

.

Now why would a successful local business owner not want to have his name mentioned in an article about his latest business venture?
.

Something doesn’t feel right here.

For one thing they only accept CASH. No one knows who the real owner is and they only have to pay a fraction if any in taxes etc.

What? They take cards and as a business owner the reason for not taking cards is fees, profit margins, charge backs, etc. The real owner needed to get a business license, a corp filing and serves wine to the customers there on a regular basis with his wife. They both sit and talk to patrons regularly.

As for not playing taxes….are you freaking nuts. Its the restaurant business. With out being able to show a steady profit how do you thing they get a second restaurant? Or credit for food vendors?

Apparently the silent majority are idiots.

Exactly — Why not be named in the Sunnyside Post? Everyone’s so friendly in the comments! I heard they choke the chickens in the back.

I’m a little confused. Weren’t the corner stores bought to make condos. I hope they did there due diligence before undertaking such a huge investment.

I wish them good luck. But it sounds as if that building is only going to be there until the new owners get everything lined up to build a “luxury condo” overlooking White Castle, Queens Blvd. and the No. 7 train, everyone’s dream view.

That’s what I was thinking. Why move there since this is being sold and eventually will be built into a large building.

and yet cheap under $100 mo affordable housing no fancy appliances no doorman, no pool, no exercise room, no W/D no dishwasher the building laundry in the basement…linoleum floors….the only luxury needed is double or triple glazed windows to block out the noise with that view

they will fill up in no time with quality non destructive tenants…

It’s delicious and there’s always a line at the original location. I was wondering when they were going to expand – but a 2nd restaurant? Wow. That’s much more of an investment than I had thought they were going to do, particularly with so many competitors in the area.

Good luck!
