A pedestrian is in critical condition after being mowed down by a hit-and-run driver in Astoria early Friday morning.

The victim, a 33-year-old man, was hit while crossing at the intersection of 31st Avenue and 33rd Street at around 3:40 a.m., according to police.

There are no bike lanes there, genius. Bikes have to share the roadway along 31st Ave, and 33rd Street has two lanes of northbound traffic.

Like residents have said in Astoria…outside dining and open streets has caused havoc and dangerous conditions on nearby avenues and streets. Cars bikes and cars speed and are oblivious to surrounding i order to look for parking or get out of the area. The NYPD also needs to crack down on drivers who are under the influence of weed. I have seen many car crashes and people just exchange insurance because the police take so long to respond.

The bike lanes actually cause more problems

Because people don’t use them!

They don’t use them correctly!

The bicyclists refuse to believe they are operators of wheeled vehicles on the road!
