A series of outdoor movie nights will kick off at the Hunters Point waterfront Thursday – with the Academy award-winning film Black Panther starting off the 2022 season.

The free movies, known as CinemaLIC, will be displayed on a state-of-the-art, 30-foot inflatable screen at Hunters Point South Park. The Manhattan skyline will provide a spectacular backdrop.

Now in its eighth year, CinemaLIC will feature four separate screenings in this year’s season. Black Panther gets the series underway on July 14 followed by the James Bond film Skyfall on Aug. 6.

Ghostbusters: Afterlife will be shown on Aug. 27 with Disney’s Encanto closing out the series on Sep. 9.

The films are all free to view and the park will be open to the public. All movies begin shortly after sunset.

The movie series is being organized by the Hunters Point Parks Conservancy (HPPC), a volunteer group that oversees events and helps with the upkeep of the park.

Rob Basch, president of the HPPC, said the waterfront park offers one of the best outdoor movie experiences in the city given its spacious setting and stunning views.

“We look forward to seeing hundreds of smiling faces enjoying our eighth year of movies,” Basch said. “Thank you to our sponsors and parks staff for helping make this happen.”

This year’s sponsors include real estate firm Nestseekers, the Gotham Organization and Shibley Day Camp Center, which is based in Long Island.

Basch said that food and beverages will be available to purchase at Ottomanelli’s, the park’s outdoor café long known as LIC Landing.

Alcoholic beverages purchased at LIC Landing must be consumed on its premises and are not permitted inside the park.

The websites www.cinemalic.com and www.hunterspointparks.org will provide updates on any weather-related changes to the schedule.

The screening dates are listed below:

July 14 — Black Panther
Aug. 6 — Skyfall
Aug. 27– Ghostbusters: Afterlife
Sep. 9 — Encanto

In keeping with the city’s current crime rate, maybe they should do a Death Wish/Dirty Harry double feature?

Decades later, they still manage to stay relevant. I wish it weren’t the case but you get what you vote for.

Cine- You’re one of those who does more harm to your agenda than good. What type of person posts nothing but political hogwash to every comment stream, even those steams that aren’t meant to be political like this one about a movie night. Every time you post political nonsense your post is “debunked.” Keep up the good work.
