NYPD: Two Men Steal Equipment From Guitar Center

Sept. 5, 2018 By Christian Murray

Police are looking for two men who allegedly stole musical equipment from the Guitar Center on 48th Street earlier this month.

The men entered the 34-17 48th Street location at around 5:30 p.m. on Aug. 15, before one of the suspects took off with an instrument worth $1,000 and the other a sound mixer worth $800.

The store captured video of the suspects, both described to be Hispanic and in their 40s, police said.

Anyone with information is asked to call NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 1-800-577-TIPS (8477)

I guess instruments and sound mixers are on the cheap now since I don’t hear either of those things in today’s “music”.

Seems pretty easy. Maybe they made everything free that day and then decided it was a bad idea and are now calling it theft?

You caught us. Turns out “everything free day” wasn’t the successful promotion we thought it was going to be. If everyone could just bring everything back that would be great plz.

No security guard in these large instrument stores? matter of time and plenty of opportunities for any thief to do this..so is this really surprising?? Reality of today’s warped, sick, no-conscious or integrity world we’re living in!! Metal detactors works, too!!

I am sorry for Guitar Center but this is what happens when you cut corners and do not hire security or have someone at the door check who is bringing in what, taking what out. I guess maybe they take into consideration certain amount of theft to offset the salary of someone, but still it makes no sense to me that they can let people walk out with equipment like this. It’s frustrating how these people get away with theft like this. Did they even catch the last x number of thieves?

How about placing all of the blame on the thieves? not attacking the store for their lack of security. when you say “these people” i will assume you mean where you have hispanics you have theft and you should have security.

No, in my post above “these people” meant any kind of low life scum of the earth thieves, regardless of race/ethnicity/origins.

Wow, seriously it looks like them, and how casually they walked out maybe it was a dispute/etc something happened and Guitar Center is reporting it as theft? Something isn’t right here..

Grand larceny is not petty theft. These are the things that could start to put a business behind and eventually cost the employees their jobs

Good point. Except the grand larceny bit. Because it’s not. so this is petty theft. So bad point.
