A mobile fashion boutique inside a trailer will soon hit the streets of western Queens.
Bohemian Groove Airstream Boutique, a women’s clothing and accessory shop, will make its debut on May 27 with a launch party at The Local (13-02 44th Ave., Long Island City) from 4:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.
The mobile boutique will be inside a transformed Airstream 27-foot silver trailer. The Airstream was completely gutted and renovated to fit the needs of a boutique, according to owner Brittany Reilly.
The mobile shop will sell women’s clothing, accessories, shoes, jewelry and leather goods.
“Bohemian Groove is curated by me with hand-selected brands from across the world,” Reilly said. “Some places include Bali, Greece, Australia and Colombia. Other brands are from California, Florida, Georgia and New York.”
Following the launch party on May 27, Bohemian Groove plans to make regular appearances at LIC Flea & Food. Reilly also plans on spending days in Astoria and Sunnyside, as well as partnering with Rockaway Brewing Company (46-01 5th St.) to set up shop there.
After that, Reilly plans to expand throughout the tri-state area, already having partnered with a polo club and several vineyards in Greenwich, Connecticut.
Eventually, Reilly said she hopes to bring her mobile boutique around the country. She will begin doing so this summer, attending a music festival in Chicago and then heading to an event in Austin, Texas.
Reilly, a lifelong Woodside resident, decided to open this mobile boutique after jumping from job to job in the fashion industry. After bouncing around she began to question whether she was in the right field.
She then decided she would like to open her own shop, but not be tied down to one location.
“Your typical storeowner has to open shop everyday, and barely gets to go outside and enjoy what the world has to offer; I didn’t see myself doing this,” she said.
Reilly’s boyfriend then had the idea of creating a mobile shop, which would allow her to own her own boutique and still travel for work. She could also save money, not having to pay the rising rents in western Queens, she said.
“Now we embark on a wonderful journey,” Reilly said.

Love This! Sunnyside does need some better boutique-y shopping. All we have for clothing shopping is Baby Blue and ABC, which is hardly fashion.
Congratulations! This is a great idea & I love seeing more creative businesses like this in western queens.
