March 22, 2016 Staff Report

Father Brian Dowd, who leads the congregation at Queens of Angles Catholic Church at 44-04 Skillman Avenue, suffered a heart attack on Sunday shortly after the 10:30am service concluded. He is expected to make a full recovery.

Dowd, a popular Sunnyside figure who was named the Luke Adams Sunnysider of the Year in 2012, called an ambulance shortly after the service ended and then got into an ambulance upon its arrival.

He was examined at a nearby hospital and a stent was inserted and he is making a recovery.

“We wish to inform you all that Fr. Brian is doing GREAT!” the church wrote in an e-mail to its parishioners.
