Sunnyside Killer in Custody

Police have a suspect in custody following Saturday’s shooting in Sunnyside, where one man was killed and another left in serious condition.

Police are in the process of extraditing the suspect from Orlando back to New York. The department would not release the suspect’s name, saying the investigation is ongoing. However, he is the only person the police are looking for. His name will be released later this week.

The shooting took place at 9:00 am Saturday in front of 45-55 48th Street. Police dispatched a helicopter to search for the gunman who fled on foot.

The victims had a criminal history for selling drugs, police said. Edison Vera was identified as the man who was killed, while Miguel Llanos is in Elmhurst hospital recovering from gun shots to the torso and arm.

Vera’s wake was held at the Lynch Funeral Home on Tuesday. There was a police car outside.

The suspect has a history of drug offenses, police said.

The police said they were fortunate to be able to talk to three individuals with information at a nearby gas station and to find a blood-filled shirt at the cemetery.

This incident was the second murder in Sunnyside this year.

Respect the shooter? WTF. You people talking some BS. I hardly remember Edison but knew his Dad, I grew up on the block and moved out when I was 17. Anyhow, I know its been a couple of months but Rest In Peace Edison, is there somewhere I can view his picture?

Thanks! Peace.

I would first like to pay my respect to Edison’s family and pray that his soul rests in peace. A life was taken way too early. Another life has now been put to the test. For the people who are talking the nonsense they are…shame on you, you really don’t know what it’s like to feel and carry that pain. Edison is gone and my brother will never be the same. We aren’t the ones who should be passing judgement….that is left for the One up Above! My brother is notorious for squaring off and shooting a fair one…and that is how MOST MEN SOLVE THEIR PROBLEMS! Cowards have to use something to make them feel powerful and try to intimidate, something that obviously didn’t work because he shot Edison from behind and my brother wrestled him until he couldn’t anymore all the while he had been shot twice. JUSTICE WILL NOW BE SERVED! THERE IS NEVER REASON, NONE AT ALL TO TAKE A LIFE OR TRY TO TAKE ONE!

J.C. makes sense. Move on, and stop calling for people to give their real names, sounds like threats in the making. Understand “tuff guys,” the boys are surely monitoring this site and its contents. Get smart now and give up the tom foolery, before it’s your name in the paper as perp or victim. You have the power to choose, these men lost that power the moment they began “hanging out” together. Yah, that’s right, they all knew each other, all be it not as well as they should have.

Calling this one a so and so, and that one a who ever, at the end of the day, none of these men will ever be the same. People who knew these men should learn a great lesson, stop “doing” what you are “doing,” and have been “doing” for generations. Clean up, care about your neighborhood, and build a better future for the kids coming up. Remember when you were growing up on those blocks? I do and I will never forget my lessons and loses……

TO HONEST SAYS!!! TELL ME WHAT REASON YOU COULD POSSIBLY HAVE TO TAKE PERSONS LIFE???????????? ESPECIALLY HIM BEING LIKE 5 TIMES THE SIZE OF ED!! WHAT MONEY???? TERRITORY???? ALL BULLSHIT REASONS!!! THAT WAS MY COUSIN AND THERE IS NO JUSTIFICATION FOR WHAT GINO DID!! IF IT WAS THE OTHER WAY AROUND AND GINO LOST HIS LIFE.. NO MATTER WHAT THERE IS NO WAY I WOULD TRY TO JUSTIFY IT!! YOU OBVIOUSLY HAVENT LOST SOMEONE TRAGICALLY, CAUSE IF YOU DID, YOU WOULDNT BE TALKING STUPIDITY!!! THERE IS NO REASON TO KILL ANOTHER PERSON!! I HOPE YOU NEVER GO THROUGH IT. CAUSE IF U DO, I DONT THINK YOU WOULD LIKE SOME PERSON SAYING THAT THE KILLER HAD THEIR REASONS!! YOUR OBVIOUSLY ON GINO’S SIDE. I JUST HOPE YOU NEVER GET BETRAYED BY A PERSON WHO U HANG OUT WITH AND THINK ITS ALL GOOD. AND THAT ONE PERSON IS THE ONE CAUSING UR FAMILY SO MUCH HEARTACHE!!

JUSTICE FOR EDISON, R.I.P.

I am standing up for Edison Vera who’s life was taken short, he was a son, brother, grandson, nephew, cousin and friend. It is truly a shame how blogs and other outlets presented Edison. For those that knew Edison only have great fun memories of a young man who was happy. He will deeply be missed and always in our hearts. The amount of people who went to say a final farewell to Edison was amazing, if he was a so called “bad” person why did he touch so many hearts. Edison we will always remember and show our support in our Judicial System when time comes for the person who did this to you.
Also to Miguel’s family, we wish him a speedy and healthy recovery to positively identify who did this to you and Edison.

for those that want to put attention on Edison’s history, focus your energy and attention to the killer that is in custody for killing a young man. You can find his image at:
