Jane’s Gifts, the general merchandise store, will be shutting down shop on Greenpoint Avenue in the coming weeks.

The small shop, located at 45-16 Greenpoint Ave., will remain open until the end of June, according to Eun Sook Lee, who owns the store with his wife Keun Sang Lee.

Signs along the shop point to slashed prices on its many items, including toys, hand bags, stationery, and luggage accessories.

The general retail shop opened about three decades ago in Sunnyside, Lee said.

Lee declined to expand on the reason’s for the shop’s closing.

News of the locale’s fate comes after Bing’s Gifts, across the street from Jane’s Gifts, closed in January after a seven-year run.

30 year lease is UP for renewal 10 year plus 2 renewals ……and the LL wants too much for the area. oh well

Remember the store at the corner of 48th st King Boulevard they had extra large clothing for men, and seemed to do a great business. That would attract people from other parts of the city to shop here. Also extra wide mens and womens shoes.

Regardless of how you feel about the store and its offerings, you have to admit there is a huge issue in NYC with commercial rents. We need mom and pop stores, not just large chains.

I think it's time to leave

Thank Jimmy Van Bremmer for his BS BID – all we got was rents doubled, businesses closing, empty storefronts, and way too many pharmacies and banks for such a small neighborhood.

Come off it people, Amazon has nothing to do with it. The biggest problem with our neighborhood is all the CRAP stores that are still open. The tide is changing folks and things need to get better with better stores. Time to bring in some real business with solid and needed merchandise. Landlords aren’t helping matters with their insanely high rents!!!!
