July 19, 2018 By Nathaly Pesantez

A newborn infant was pronounced dead yesterday after responders found the child unconscious in a small Long Island City hotel, according to police.

The baby girl was found lying unconscious and unresponsive by EMS inside a hotel room at Days Inn, located at 31-36 Queens Blvd., at around 7:40 p.m. on July 18, police say.

The responders took the infant and her 35-year-old mother, who was at the scene, to Elmhurst General Hospital, where the baby was pronounced dead on arrival just before 8:20 p.m., an NYPD spokesperson said.

No arrests have been made in the case, and the investigation is ongoing.

An NYPD spokesperson could not provide information on what could have lead to the child’s death, and said it is pending a report from the New York City Medical Examiner.

The 35-year-old mother had reportedly been living at the hotel since April, and the room she stayed in was found with “drug paraphernalia,” according to the New York Post.

Slowly but surely the Debaslio admin has crept up on everyone in every neighborhood in every economic class. Your progressive politicians are MIA and people are just now starting to complain. You missed your chance by voting this mayor out. Now ream the whirlwind.

Yep. No one ever complained before DeBlasio. Anyhow, it’s a tragedy when a child dies.

Can’t complain about the mayor. When it was time to vote for a new mayor people were too lazy to go out to vote because it was raining that day.

QNS is reporting the child was born some months prematurely. That seems like an important detail…

If the child had health problems, she certainly should not have been at a “shelter” with a drug addicted mother. The hospital and the Administration of Child Services dropped the ball – again. Not a word from Jimmy Van Bramer who is probably putting on his pussy cat and going on another march across the bridge because he is angry or something. We have real problems in this neighborhood and we have zero leadership. Not from Van Bramer, not from Nolan, not from Gianaris. Boot them all out.

Wyndham hotels know about this homeless situation and still keep their name? Aren’t they supposed to mention this somewhere on the hotel. “Welcome to our hotel, oh by the way, we are also a homeless shelter”. We need to start reviewing these hotels on Yelp/etc and let people know that they are not real hotels, despite the name at the door. (Unless they changed names and sold them to sketchy out of state shell companies already)

We have a Mayor who twice ran on the slogan”Tale of Two Cities”. Five years and approximately $15 Billion of taxpayer money expended on homeless services later, today’s news reports on an infant in the City’s homeless program dying for reasons unknown in a hotel not built or equipped for long term family occupancy. Coupled with the criminal actions of deBlasio’s appointees to NYCHA regarding lead paint and children, it’s fair to say the Mayor has turned municipal treatment of the less fortunate into Dante’s Inferno. May the soul of this child Rest In Peace.

It’s hard to believe that no one has commented on this yet. Could be that it is so awful that it leaves people speechless.

Homeless hotels costing city millions with drugs, SAD. With King Cuomo & Mayor DeBlowsio have no plan for correction.

The only thing King Cuomo and DeBlowsio are capable of is pointing fingers of fault at each other and public squabbling like children. Cynthia Nixon’s close alliance with DeBlowsio makes me question if I should give her my vote even though King Cuomo is likely as unethical as politicians come.

Queens DA paralegal fired after arrest for threatening to bomb Elmhurst migrant shelter

An Elmhurst man was fired from his job as a paralegal at the Queens District Attorney’s office after he was arrested and criminally charged late last month for threatening to bomb a migrant shelter across the street from his home on 77th Street just south of Roosevelt Avenue.

Derek Klever, 27, was arrested by police from the 110th Precinct in Elmhurst after they executed a search warrant at his apartment at 40-37 77th St. a day after they learned of his plot to bomb the Kamway Lodge, a hostel at 40-36 77th St., that the city converted to temporarily house asylum seekers.
