New York City has launched a housing lottery for eight units in a 7-story mixed-use building at 43-34 53rd St. in Woodside.
The building has 24 residences, 16 of which are market rate. All eight affordable units are one-bedroom units meant for those earning 130% of the area median income (AMI).
The monthly rent for the affordable units is $2,200. Each affordable unit is meant to accommodate up to three people. These units are intended for households earning an annual area median income between $75,429 and $181,740, depending on the amount of tenants.
Amenities for tenants at this building include patios or balconies in each unit, a shared laundry room, air-conditioning, high-speed internet, cable or satellite TV, a recreation room, an outdoor terrace, a rooftop terrace, a recycling center, doorstep recycling collection, valet trash, an intercommunication device, an elevator, high-end countertops and finishes and security cameras. The building is also smoke-free and has an accessible entrance. Tenants will have online options for leasing, paying rent making maintenance requests. Electricity, including stove and heat, is a responsibility for tenants.
There is an easily-accessible jogging/walking/bike path near the building. The area around it is also pedestrian-friendly. A bus stop is located within walking distance of the building, allowing for convenient public transportation access.
Prospective renters must meet the income and housing size requirements to apply. Those who live in New York City receive a general preference for units. Applications must be postmarked or submitted online by July 3. Applicants who qualify will also be required to meet additional selection criteria.
