City Offers New Yorkers $100 to Get Booster Shot

COVID-19 Vaccine (Michael Appleton/Mayoral Photography Office)

Dec, 21, 2021 By Christian Murray

Procrastination pays.

Mayor Bill de Blasio announced today that New Yorkers who get the booster shot at a city run or SOMOS vaccination site will get $100—starting today.

The incentive, which comes as the city is waging battle against the omicron variant, will be offered through Dec. 31, he said.

“This is a limited time, but we hope a lot of people take it up, because it will be money well spent,” de Blasio said.

The omicron variant is sweeping through New York City and now accounts for 92 percent of cases in the five boroughs. The variant is also infecting residents who have already been vaccinated.

But the booster shot does provide an extra layer of protection, according to health experts.

A recent study found that the Moderna vaccine provided a 37-fold increase in protective antibodies against omicron, the New York Times reported. Meanwhile, the Pfizer booster increases the protective antibodies 25-fold.

The omicron variant does appear to cause more mild infections, although officials say it is highly transmissible.

GET VACCINATED

Get vaccinated folks. Stop being selfish. If you’re not getting it for yourself, get it for loved ones around you. Protect them. You must be an idiot if you don’t get vaccinated. Think about it, whenever we get a different version of the flu shot every year, do you question what’s in it? I think not. What’s the point of being alive in this world if everyone else is going to be dead. Stop being a wimp and just get vaccinated.

Perhaps Mr. deBlasio should procrastinate on pursuing his pipe dream of higher office to the point of not running at all and just disappear for a very long time to no one’s concern.

DONT TAKE THE $100

You only get the $100 dollars if you agree to let NYC share your information with a third party. That third party looks like it’s Sunbank NA.

NEVER LET A CRISIS GONYO WASTE.

I hope that everybody realizes that their new mayor elect Adams is planning to retain and/or expand on DiBlasio’s mandates.

In addition, the State of NY has some sinister stuff in the works under Gov Hochul.

I recommend all of you view the entirety of NY State Assembly Bill A416, To be voted on in the near future.
https://www.nysenate.gov/legislation/bills/2021/a416

This is some dystopian stuff. If you want to live Black Mirror/Minority Report/Soviet Union style lives, then you are all doing a great job. If we are lucky, then Mark Zuckerberg will provide us with a ready player one style escape from our hellish real-lives. Yea, thats how it happens. Make real life so hellish that eternal meta facebook is all we have left.

Offering an incentive so citizens will get vaccinated is hardly sinister or dystopian. It sounds as if your worldview has been heavily influenced by the media to the point where you’ve become disengaged with reality. Most of us have no problem with vaccines and medical science. You should consider distancing yourself further from civilized society and move somewhere that is less populated.

R U Ready, Player?

Requiring an experimental medication to participate in daily life, and then offering money to get more jabs seems like a dystopia to me.

I better not see you at a hospital trying to get treatment when you catch covid. At the same time, I wish you don’t catch covid because it’s people like you that would be a super-spreader because “Covid doesn’t exist. I’m ok.” Stop watching trash Fox News.

The only thing that kept NYC running all this time is Financial institutions and tourism. With those half way out the door, I see Detroit 2.0 in the near future.

Dave- Detroit? Kindly, refer to a history book or even his Wikipedia. Detroit didn’t just “happen.” Right wing hysteria is perfect on you.

Wikipedia hasn’t been a credible source for at at least 8 years. Those on the right aren’t the hysterics. Idiots like Ms All Out Communist are.

Tell me more?

Fox Stupid, I lived in downtown Detroit during ’08-10. I enjoyed it, but it wasnt cool. Ask me all about it if you want. I was actually at a party in ‘Greektown’ the night that Obama was inaugurated. His policies benefited me that night, but I was still impartial. At the time, I was more in favor of anarchy as a form of government, vs liberty/libertarian. Anything to get the government off our backs, and that was, at the time, Obama, for most.

Those were the innocent times when we just wanted to pull troops from Afghanistan. That was the only political motive.

@Biden obsessed -According to the US Census: New York City recorded a population gain of 629,057 between 2010 and 2020. The city’s 7.7% population increase, to 8,804,190, is the second-largest numerically in the past nine decades, surpassed only by 1990–2000, when the enumerated population
Increase by 686,000. Fox projected population loss was wrong again. Fox had the same prediction in the US Census count before this census count. Talk about a lack of credibility. I guess just constantly repeating something doesn’t always work.

you quote gains up to 2020. We will probably never see actual stats from March 2020 to present or ‘end of plandemic’. It will all be census stats, for a period of 10 years, which is not the discussion.

Inflation is a world wide phenomenon caused by Covid

@Sean – Inflation is a world wide phenomenon directly related to the Covid pandemic. Have you seen the inflation rates in places like Turkey? Is Biden responsible for this too? Biden hasn’t even been in office a year yet…

This is a pandemic of the unvaccinated. The rest of us can now purchase bacon to add to our loaf of bread for the holidays.

unfortunately, Keyfood in the area is a monopoly now. they own all the stores and they control all prices, so bacon is no longer affordable.

What about those who already got their boosters. We don’t get back pay for doing the right thing? Not fair.

I think lower income households are disproportionally less likely to get the vaccine. Providing a money incentive will likely help increase compliance.

How long will the 100 be available. I am not scheduled for a booster for another 2 months. I need the cash now.

Did you refer to these vaccines as experimentation on people? It’s called empirical science. The vaccine has been shown to be efficacious with many covid variants. Go read a book and educate yourself. It’s dumb idiots like you who refuse to get vaccinated and prolong this pandemic for everyone. I better not see your A** at the hospital wanted to get treated when you become sick.

City Council passes bill shifting broker fee burden to landlords, sparking backlash from real estate industry and key critics

Nov. 14, 2024 By Ethan Stark-Miller and QNS News Team

The New York City Council passed a landmark bill on Wednesday, aiming to relieve renters of paying hefty broker fees — a cost that will now fall on the party who hires the listing agent. Known as the FARE Act (Fairness in Apartment Rentals), the legislation passed with a veto-proof majority of 42-8, despite opposition from Republicans and conservative Democrats.
