Police are searching for four armed robbers who burst into an apartment in Sunnyside on Wednesday, punched the residents in the head, and then fled the scene with $8,000 cash.

The home invasion took place at around 9:45 p.m., in the vicinity of Skillman Avenue and 48th Street, in an apartment belonging to a 47-year-old woman and a 59-year-old man, according to police.

The suspects knocked on the door of the apartment and, after the couple opened the door, the intruders barged their way inside brandishing firearms, police said.

The intruders punched the victims in the face with closed fists and demanded money, cops said.

They then stole $8,000 cash and cell phones, before fleeing the scene in an unknown direction, police said.

Police described all four suspects as aged between 20 and 25 years of age.

The NYPD released CCTV footage of the suspects.

Juan Ardilla would like these fellas to have a chat about their hardships and give them a slap on the wrist. They are just misunderstood.

I’m begging you don’t vote for Juan Ardilla just because he has a smile and a Hispanic lady name. He is no good! I’ve worked with him.

For all of you complaining as to why they opened the door, the victims could of thought they were new neighbors, deliverymen, repair men, salesmen, campaign people, etc. and thus they opened the door. They always knock on my door. Also, rent vouchers were increased by a lot last year so Sunnyside rentals are more affordable to many. Hard to tell anymore who is a resident or a worker and who is up to no good. So most of us just mind our own business. Not even the cops care to stop and question so why should we.

This is another example of how things quickly unraveled once the Democrats got complete control of the state legislature. For many years, conservative upstate was able to keep many of the progressive Democrats in check from implementing their radical agendas like bail reform and NYC benefitted from that moderate Albany. Ever since that blue wave swept over the state in the 2018 elections, it is no coincidence that NYC has gone downhill.

Mike – So this robbery is on the Democrats and the massacre of 21 in Texas and massacre in Buffalo are on Republicans. I think I might agree. A first.

Wow, way to twist Mike’s comment to swing to your pathetic narrative. Buzzwords, Trump, Fox News… same dribble all the time. But the irony is, your comment just proves that mental health is the real problem in America. Please seek help.

Smh ( Hashtagger, Mike, etc) -Can’t stomach your party’s policies. Democrats own criminal reform and Republicans own free access to guns. Enjoy and live with it. At the very least politicians and their supporters should own the cons along with the pros of the policies they’re voting for and supporting. If you can’t stomach it get out of the game, you’re the biggest Republican banner waver on this comment stream.

Funny same thing can be said about you. It’s cute you’re trying to make yourself sound better by pointing out that the Democrats also have cons but you never seem to mention them in your posts on SSP.

@smh, “ Mike – So this robbery is on the Democrats and the massacre of 21 in Texas and massacre in Buffalo are on Republicans. I think I might agree. A first.” There are no buzzwords or mention of Trump or Fox News…Are you delusional?

Rudy showed the world how simple it is to solve this problem. But alas, cracking down on crime turned out to be racist.

Gia- Crime went down all over the country at the same time as Giuliani’s time in office. Fact, just look it up.

Population density is more significant in NYC so yes, Rudy was a positive influence on the quality of life in NY and overall safety. Criminals were punished and not caught and released today.

I’m guessing that these thugs knew there were thousands of dollars in this apartment & they targeted the victims purposefully.

I bet they work at Uber eats, one of them delivered food, saw the couple with cash on the table and come back probably the same day.

These poor people are just trying to feed their families. Let’s give them free money and of course they shouldn’t have to work if they dont feel like it. police dont bother investigating because we will release them anyway.

During the pandemic many people kept cash at home. Banks were closed or operated during shorter hours and no one wanted to wait in line with social distancing and mask mandates. Stop victim blaming. Many people in our neighborhood are also undocumented and get paid only in cash.

People are desperate. I see people paying workers at pharmacies to hold onto baby formula for them.

Hey Margarita:
Why are they desperate. If you are talking about immigrants they knew what they were in for when they came here. Doesn’t give them the right to steal. They are just criminals plain and simple. If they are just poor there are many opportunities here. Take advantage of the opportunities and stop making excuses.

This terrible and I hope these guys are caught. But, if you looked through your peephole and saw four guys in masks and hoodies, wouldn’t you maybe call 911? Maybe they opened the door without looking because they thought it was someone else, like food delivery?

Sickening. Pity the victims were not armed. The city would have been a better place with a few less thugs above ground.

City Council passes bill shifting broker fee burden to landlords, sparking backlash from real estate industry and key critics

Nov. 14, 2024 By Ethan Stark-Miller and QNS News Team

The New York City Council passed a landmark bill on Wednesday, aiming to relieve renters of paying hefty broker fees — a cost that will now fall on the party who hires the listing agent. Known as the FARE Act (Fairness in Apartment Rentals), the legislation passed with a veto-proof majority of 42-8, despite opposition from Republicans and conservative Democrats.
