Affordable Housing Lottery Opens in Woodside, Rent Starts at $1,750

A new affordable housing lottery has opened for eight units in a recently-constructed building in Woodside—where rental prices start at $1,750 a month.

The units are located in a nine-story, 74-unit building at 46-02 70th St. — in a building that fronts Queens Boulevard.

The affordable units are for those who make up to 130 percent of the area median income (AMI).

Two studio apartments are available at $1,750 a month to households of one to three people who make between $60,000 and $139,620 combined annually.

Six two-bedroom units are available at $2,400 a month to households of two to five people who make between $82,286 and $167,570 combined annually.

Tenants are responsible for paying the electricity — including heat — and gas bills in addition to rent.

The building features a shared laundry room, covered parking spots and bike storage.

The deadline to apply is June 28, 2021. Mailed applications must be postmarked by that date.

Those eligible can apply to the housing lottery online here.

To request an application by mail, send a self-addressed envelope to J&J Tower Apartments – Units Still Available c/o Reside New York 349 Keap St., Brooklyn, NY 11211.

The building owner will receive a tax break for participating in the affordable housing lottery.

Shouldn’t the affordable units be for those who make LESS than the median? and it shouldn’t the rent be cheaper than market rate?

Oh well I dont make that kind of salary $60k so I dont qualified . But then I seen 1 bedroom in Woodside for $1300 ? To me that is affordable 🤔

These developers recieve tax breaks to make housing that is not affordable and now the tenants pay for heat.

It is not considered a lottery. Current market price for rent is even cheaper than $1,750 a month for a studio and $2400 for 2 bedroom apt.

exactly. you can find cheaper in a better area, not in front of a highway where you get to breathe in all those truck fumes, plus the noise pollution. the heating costs will be astronomical. i lived in a studio in flushing and heating was $400 a month.

these are brand new construction with amenities. The apts you speak of have bedbugs, roaches, no wash/dryer, etc. This price is a steal for people that work and qualify.
