A woman is dead after being fatally struck by an LIRR equipment train in Woodside Tuesday morning, according to the MTA.
The woman was hit by the train just before 5 a.m. close to the Woodside LIRR station, the MTA said.
The victim was pronounced dead at the scene.
The woman’s identity has not yet been released, pending family notification and MTA Police are investigating the incident, according to the MTA. Police do not suspect foul play.
The LIRR immediately suspended service between Jamaica and Penn Station as a result of the incident, the MTA said.
Limited westbound service resumed at 6:21 a.m. and full service was restored at 8:23 a.m., according to the MTA.
The MTA cross-honored LIRR tickets on the J and Z subway train at Jamaica and on the 2 and 3 subway train at Atlantic Terminal and Penn Station throughout the service disruption, the agency said.
LIRR customers were advised to consider taking the LIRR to Atlantic Terminal and transferring to the 2 or 3 subway train to Manhattan.
LIRR service is suspended in both directions between Jamaica & Penn due to an unauthorized person on the tracks being struck by an equipment train near Woodside. MTA Police, EMS & LIRR personnel are on scene. Port Washington Br. service not affected. We will update you shortly.

Very very sad
Mental health problems are real
Heartbreaking. May she rest in peace.
I was coming up the stairs of the station at the time and heard her scream as she was hit by the train. God, it must hurt to get hit by a million pounds of steel at 60 miles per hour.
Was there anyone else on the platform when you got up the stairs??
Terrible. Please be careful on train platforms. Stand well back from the edge. Anything can happen, a dizzy spell, slipping or somebody bumping into you. It’s easy to suddenly find yourself on the tracks. Prayers and thoughts for the family.
RIP, it wasn’t an accident. It was a suicide. She took her life. Poor thing. You have to be desperate to be splattered under a commuter train.
She leave a suicide note?
I saw her jump in with both feet. Made me late for work.
There were witnesses who said that she jumped. She was homeless and took her life. Read the police report. It’s available on the NYPD website. You can request it.
Ok.
Amd of Tim say it did you notice anything beforehand? You might be questioned as to why you didn’t stop her.
What exactly is the website name?
