Four Men Shot at Ravenswood Houses Tuesday, All Likely to Survive: NYPD

Aug. 19, 2020 By Christian Murray

Four men were shot at the Ravenswood Housing development in Astoria Monday afternoon, police said.

The victims—ages 21, 17, 18 and 19—were sitting in the courtyard in the vicinity of 21st Street and 35th Avenue when a man approached the group at around 4:45 p.m. and started firing.

The four victims were taken to Elmhurst Hospital and are all expected to survive, police said. The 21-year-old was shot in the head, the 17-year-old in the back, 19-year-old in the hand and the 18-year-old in the knee.

The unknown suspect—who was wearing a black T-Shirt and black face mask– left the scene in a dark SUV, police said.

The crime-ridden 70s are BACK, baby!

Maybe Deblazio can have Son of Sam released and recreate his heyday!

I grew up in Ravenswood In the 80’s and this is really nothing new.,These projects should be torn down or made into senior housing. My boyfriends mother still lives there and lives in fear.

Murphy- Where is your played out standard “I blame progressives and DiBlasio”. You probably wrote that about crimes in the 70’s and 80’s.

You would think that the BLM crowd and the white SJW would be on the streets in these communities trying to stop this or do some kind of positive work. But no. Its easier to scream about the police, the mean ol’ white man than address any kind of personal or community responsibility. Apparently the “community” is not ready to join the basic social contract that leads to success and safe communities.

I wish AOC would reach out, buy them stamps and start a pen-pal mail program in these neighborhoods. They could take out all their frustrations through writing poetry.

Ravenswood worked so well as a stage for AOC and the Sanders campaign not so many months ago.

Seems like a drive by shooting. The type we saw in movies in the 90’s. I guess its making a comeback due to all the criminals being released who have been locked up for years. They need to update their movie selection in jail.

Use the money from defunding the police to help pay for people to move out of this city. Sitting outside at 4:45 p.m and being shot at? What kind of city are we living in and the media just mentions it like they are talking about lemonade stands popping up throughout the city.

Why not echo “Hands up, don’t shoot” people were shouting all summer at officers and throughout NYC neighborhoods during the protests where they do not live and less violence was taking place.

jmurphy – I’ve “quasi” lived in Kentucky, Louisiana and Virginia while I was in the service and for work . From the experience I know better. You’re the one touting Republican failed idealism you go live in a Republican utopia instead of bringing those failed polices here.
Ten Wealthiest States Per Capita Income 2020
10. Washington
9. Virginia
8. California
7. Alaska
6. New Hampshire
5. Connecticut
4. Massachusetts
3. Hawaii
2. New Jersey
1. Maryland
US News and World Report After analyzing all 50 U.S. states, here are the 10 poorest states in America for 2020:
Mississippi
New Mexico
Louisiana
West Virginia
Alabama
Kentucky
South Carolina
Arkansas
Tennessee
North Carolina
Here are the 10 states with the highest homicide rates: According to FBI
1-Louisiana (12.4 per 100,000 people)
2-Missouri (9.8 per 100,000 people)
3-Nevada (9.1 per 100,000 people)
4-Maryland (9 per 100,000 people)
5-Arkansas (8.6 per 100,000 people)
6-Alaska (8.4 per 100,000 people)
7-Alabama (8.3 per 100,000 people)
8-Mississippi (8.2 per 100,000 people)
9-Illinois (7.8 per 100,000 people)
10-South Carolina (7.8 per 100,000 people)
The crime and poorest states are almost exclusively Republican and notice the correlation of the two. The wealthiest are almost all Democratic strongholds. You have gall to accuse anyone of being filled “with hot air”. You are responsible for two thirds of the comments to this stream. You obviously can’t debate the content of my posts so you feel compelled to resort to ridiculous person type of attacks.

Stick to the facts

Daily shooting deaths did not pass daily Covid deaths. Covid is now number 3 cause of death in America right behind cancer and heart disease.

Seems like the BLM message has reached the NYPD. Social workers and therapists need to handle this. You can blame or thank the Mayor for all this but the NYPD is also to blame. The NYPD is staying quiet and perhaps trying to be politically correct. We need a Black New York City Police Commissioner who can get away with saying a lot more.

I am sure the suspect will be found. Most people are wearing white and blue face masks. He should be easier to spot. Thanks for the great description NYPD. You definitely have our support.

Kaufman studios in Astoria could save a lot of money by filming a reality crime show instead of a scripted one.

LIBERALS CAUSE ALL THE PROBLEMS

DeBlasio wants you to know that despite the rising crime and terrible statistics that this is still “the safest big city in America.” Note that he will not disband his personal security.
