Three Men Wanted for Posing as Cops in Botched Attempt to Steal Firearms in Astoria: NYPD

The three suspects wanted for questioning (NYPD)

April 29 2020, By Michael Dorgan

Police are searching for three men who allegedly posed as cops in a failed attempt to steal firearms in Astoria earlier this month.

On Tuesday, April 14 at around 12:35 p.m., three suspects broke into a residential dwelling in the vicinity of 12th Street and 30th Drive, police said.

The suspects– who believed that there were guns in the house– told the occupants that they were police officers and demanded to know where the firearms were located, according to the NYPD.

The suspects failed to find the firearms and fled the scene without taking any property, police said.

The three assailants were last seen fleeing on foot toward 12th Street.

The first suspect is described as black, around 40-years-old, about 6 feet 2 inches tall and of medium build. He was last seen wearing a black zippered hooded jacket with a white logo on back, black jeans, white sneakers and a white face mask.

The second suspect is described as black, around 35-years-old and around 6 feet 1 inches tall and also of medium build. He was last seen wearing a black zippered hooded jacket, blue jeans, black sneakers with white soles, and a blue surgical mask and gloves.

The third suspect is the shortest of the trio standing at around 5 feet 6 inches tall. He is described as black, around 35-years-old and with a thin build. He was last seen wearing a black jacket, light-colored jeans, white and black sneakers and a black skull cap.

The NYPD released surveillance footage of the suspects wanted for questioning.

There were no injuries reported as a result of the incident.

I have a guard dog. But the CDC just announced that pets should also social distance. Do not let your pets interact with other pets or other people. I’m so worried now.
