The number of Queens residents killed by the coronavirus is inching towards 4,000, according to city data released today.

In total, 3,915 people have died from the virus in the World’s Borough as of yesterday evening, according to the city’s Department of Health. The figures consist of 3,002 people who tested positive prior to dying– and another 913 people who weren’t tested but COVID-19 was determined as the reason for their death.

Citywide, the virus had claimed the lives of 14,996 New Yorkers as of yesterday. More Brooklyn residents have died from contracting the coronavirus — 3,983 — than in any other borough.

However, Queens has had and continues to have the highest number of cases of the deadly disease. As of yesterday at 6 p.m., 42,637 borough residents tested positive for COVID-19. New York City as a whole has 138,435 cases.

Corona, which ironically shares the name of the devastating virus, continues to have the most cases among New York City neighborhoods.

As of 2:30 p.m. today, Corona has 2,946 positive cases of COVID-19.

Adjacent neighborhoods of Elmhurst, Jackson Heights, East Elmhurst and Woodside have 2,282 cases, 1,781 cases, 2,140 cases and 1,464 cases respectively.

Other neighborhoods with high counts include parts of Jamaica with 1,433 cases and Far Rockaway with 1,573 cases.

The map below shows the number of positive COVID-19 cases in each zip code across the five boroughs.

I have witnessed small business establishments allow individuals to come in the store holding a napkin over their nose, even though there was a sign outside that read, “No one is allowed to come into the store without a mask.” On another occasion an individual was using a toothpick to clean his teeth on a bus; possibly homeless, but could be observed in the bus drivers rear view mirror. Eventually, as a city we will have to decide whether we want to live or die.

I am seeing more house cats in the street. Leave your dogs home. One threw up at a local market and the owner just walked away. So unfair that the grocery worker was alerted after someone stepped on it.

Can we get more stats please. Just number alone means nothing. We still need to be careful but we need to stop people from moving to tiger sidewalk when they see someone walking their direction. This is getting crazy. Do they think virus will disappear over ight. We need more data and have healthy people go put, limit sick people from going out until they are not infectious anymore.

Burglary crew sought for targeting drugstores in five different Queens precincts: NYPD

Police from five Queens precincts are looking for a pair of burglars who targeted independent mom-and-pop drugstores from Fresh Meadows to Astoria throughout December.

The two men allegedly broke into three drugstores in three different neighborhoods in a half-hour during the morning of Sunday, Dec. 15. While one stood guard outside a drugstore at 63-09 39th Avenue in Woodside, his partner broke through the glass front door at 5:50 a.m. Police from the 108th Precinct reported that he removed $400 in cash before leaving.
