Three Men Wanted For a String of Sunnyside Robberies And Assaults: NYPD

Two of the Suspects (NYPD) attacked 62-year-old man outside Burger King on Queens Blvd March 9 (Photo: Google)

March 21, 2019 By Christian Murray

The police released video footage of three men today wanted for a string of robberies and assaults that have taken place in Sunnyside this month.

Suspect (NYPD)

The first attack took place at around 10:50 p.m. on Saturday, March 9, when the men sprayed ‘silly string’ in the face of a 62-year-old man in front of 40-15 Queens Blvd.(Burger King), before striking him multiple times in the head and back with a belt. The victim was bruised but refused medical attention, police said.

The following Monday, March 11, one of the suspects sucker-punched a 34-year-old man on the corner of Greenpoint and 48th Avenues at around 11:20 p.m. The men then kicked the victim while he was on the ground and took $600, an iPhone X and Apple earpods before fleeing. The victim was taken to Elmhurst Hospital Center where he was treated for bruises to his head and body.

Days later, Saturday, March 16, the trio were seen spray painting parked vehicles on the corner of 39th Avenue and 46th Street at around 2 a.m. When the men were questioned by a 21-year-old observer, they punched the victim in the face causing lacerations and brusies. No serious injuries were sustained.

Suspect (NYPD)

The group, according to police, then robbed a 45-year-old man at knife point who was walking to work on Monday, March 18, at around 1:20 a.m. by 34-00 Review Ave. The victim was slashed and stabbed by the suspects, while they took his cell phone, wallet and backpack. He was taken to

Elmhurst Hospital and is in serious but stable condition with multiple lacerations to his head and back.

The three suspects are black and in their 20s. One of the men was seen to have long braids, white jacket and blue jeans.

Anyone with information on the case should contact the Crime Stoppers hotline at 1-800-577-8477, or text CRIMES and then enter TIP577, or visit www.nypdcrimestoppers.com.

It would help if the Police released the correct descriptions of the suspects. Do they bother looking at the video before they send it out. In today’s New York News the thugs were again described by the police as “three black youths.” No they’re three Hispanics. One being dark skinned and most probably Dominican.

The police have arrested one of the three suspects wanted for a string of violent robberies that have taken place in Sunnyside this month.

Police arrested a 15-year-old youth on Friday afternoon and charged him with three counts of robbery, two counts of assault and one count of a gang assault. The police would not release his name, given his age. However, the teen is a resident of Queens, according to the NYPD.

The suspect was arrested for his alleged involvement in an assault of a 62-year-old man in front of Burger King, at 40-15 Queens Blvd., on Saturday, March 9; the sucker-punching and robbery of a 34-year-old man at Greenpoint and 48th Avenues on March 11; and the robbery of a 45-year-old man at knife point who was walking to work on Monday, March 18, at around 1:20 a.m. by 34-00 Review Ave.

at the end of the day you don’t know what they been through or why they did what they did. There isn’t an excuse for this typa stuff but maybe you should look at the bigger picture of this is what hopelessness can lead to. institutions like school make them feel like this is the only way to make it in life. Idk what they hime life could be but maybe that group was a sense of community. Just because you do one bad thing doesn’t make you a bad person. These are kids

That’s bull. Many of us ARE rich. There are million dollar and up houses here. Not that I want to brag about how being white or being jewish sometimes actually does equal being rich, but yes it does. And we often dress and walk just the same as “poor folk”. But thugs don’t care if you are rich or not, they will rob anyone who has a bit of cash in their pocket.

Whoever keeps replying with the B.S intellectually lazy “gee a Trump supporter saying something racist”, please can it. This minority family, (and many others), can call it like we see it. A huge reason places are going to hell is because liberal morons like you, who are desperate to be seen as morally superior, feel that idiot anti Trump comments will earn you “social justice warrior of the year” award. In these small local coffee shops when you’re conversing with your fellow enlightened liberals, I overhear the truth come out. You all like a certain amount of diversity, as in resturants, and multicultural experiences you pay for, however, you don’t truly want that same diversity at your doorstep. Stop jumping on people as racist when they state that these kids are obviously Hispanic and part of a gang. Other Hispanics like our family can call it for what it is, rather than coddle, and encourage “hug a thug” handling of such crimes.

No, let’s blame these thugs, their neglectful parents who probably were kids themselves when they birthed them, and not blame people for stating the obvious. And yes, in cities where liberal policies are run amok, there are homeless explosions, drugs are rampant, and tax dollar go to the wrong places. But let’s elect more AOC types who run jobs out of the area. Then we can have more kids like these, (who could possibly be reformed), unable to support themselves and end up comfy between our tax dollars and robbery. We have bigger problems than racism. Coddling, low expectations and liberal policies are destroying minorities faster than any “racist Trump supporter”

Why is always these same type of people committing crimes? Look at any crime committed in the city and it is always from the same types of people. Why is that? This is how it has been for years. Decades. Goes on from generation to generation. The city has a substantial under class population that keeps perpetuating itself. Maybe because the city subsidizes it through welfare and housing projects. And a doofus mayor.

Saw them on 54th St. and 39th ave by the doughboy park (my block). They were up to no good and questioning anyone who dared to look more than a few seconds at them, including my 80 something year old 4’8″ widow neighbor watering her garden. Harassed me in front of my son when I drove by and then as I got out.. asking me to come over.. with my son (11) disturbed… they looked so young, I told him they were just boys being boys… but I knew it was more than that… cant call the cops on being out of place acting weird though, right?
Please get them away from out neighborhood!

Crime is NOT rampant in this neighborhood (not that it ever was, as I recall.) Stop & frisk had nothing to do with it then and really isn’t needed right now. Any claim that stop-and-frisk contributed to a decline in the crime rate is unsubstantiated. (PS What news are you watching?)

You must not have lived in Sunnyside in the ‘90’s or were blissfully ignorant. 40th st off of Queens Blvd., was an entire street of people selling any drug you wanted; the entire block with rooftop watchdogs. When Guliani came in ‘96 with stop and frisk leading the way, that block was forever cleared in a matter months. So to say it didn’t work tells me you either didn’t live in the city back then or just avoided reality entirely.

SuperWittySmitty

Actually, I moved here in ’96. I lived on 55th street in Woodside before moving here. NYC & Queens were very different then; it was over 20 years ago. Stop & frisk was a radical & extreme response to and there’s nothing more than an opinion that it was a solution- the actual data does not support what you’re saying. Correlation does not imply causation, like it or not. Btw, try and find any evidence that stop & frisk event existed in 1996 and you’ll find nothing.

Not according to the local police department or to any statistical data. You might be afraid of the bogeyman but I believe in what’s obvious and what the local authorities say: crime is down significantly, it’s not rampant, and stop & frisk didn’t matter and wasn’t/isn’t needed. If you can provide evidence to the contrary, please do so. Otherwise, go back to hiding under your bed.

let me give you a bit of clarity on your statement: 1. crime in this neighborhood as well as this city is not “rampant”. Yes, there is crime and always will be crime, but claiming that crime is rampant is either a mistake or a lie on your part. 2. It is factually proven by the use of statistics provided by not only the NYPD , but also independent monitors and watchdog groups, that this type of crime is actually on a major decline over the past 10 years (years during which stop and frisk was in effect). This means that your claim of rampancy is not only simply untrue, but actually the complete opposite of the truth.
3. If you are so fearful of crime that you dont want to leave your own house everyday in one of the statistically safest big cities on this planet, that is more of a reflection on your own mental state and personality than it is a reflection on the current street crime rates of NYC. 4. watching “the news” as a way to gauge crime rates is simply a fool’s narrative. There are roughly 10 million people in this city. If you turn on the news tonight and see 3 stories about 3 specific crimes, that would actually be a very positive thing considering how many people live here and how closely they live to each other. 5. I am going to assume that you are not from New York city based on the fact that you believe crime is rampant here today. If you were actually from New York and had experienced this city in the 70’s and 80’s and even early 90’s, you would have a much clearer perception of what it is that you are speaking about. 6. you might want to think a bit next time before you post a comment that is so “rampantly” plagued by lies and opinion and instead rely more on the facts.

Sorry to disappoint you but I have lived in NYC my entire life. I think I know when crime is rampant or not. You must not ride the subway or watch TV. “In 2002, there were 97,296 “stop and frisk” stops made by New York police officers; 82.4% resulted in no fines or convictions. The number of stops increased dramatically in 2008 to over half a million, 88% of which did not result in any fine or conviction, peaking in 2011 to 685,724 stops, again with 88% resulting in no conviction. On average, from 2002 to 2013, the number of individuals stopped without any convictions was 87.6%.”

Good luck getting any results, but please do. Also report to 311 EVERY issue you see in the neighborhood and please do not report them anonymously. I report all the time and they actually call me if they can’t locate or if they want more proof etc. However other times either they are too busy or they just send a rookie/lazy officer, who just says “nothing observed”..Of course nothing observed because you arrived 2 hours later. If I call 911, maybe they’ll show up faster, but I don’t want to bother 911 with some of these issues.

#3 NO early release/ slap on the wrist probation or community service….. instead again as above, make it a mandatory part to learn how to read, write and speak English and prove it to a parole board/ Judge before being released.

Let the prisoner/convict have a choice speak Ebonics and serve every last day, or speak fluent English and get released early.

Just moved. Husband has been here his entire life and family is still here. Couldn’t pay us enough to continue to deal with parking, rats, dog s**t, congestion, and the noticable overall decay. People that didn’t see this place decades ago, don’t appreciate how cleaned up it was. Guess for many ideology trumps what you see with your own eyes.

“The three suspects are black”… Looks to me like one is and the other two are mixed or hispanic. Might want to have another look at the video, Sunnyside Post.

Put it this way: they’re not white. That’s what “black” means in this day and age.

Thugs not Punks

More than just punks. They are thugs. I can only imagine what their family lives are like. They weren’t conceived by two parents, but bred, like animals, which is what they really are. Uncivilized, without a future.
