Woodside Man Who Shot Wife Sentenced to Nine Years in Prison: DA

Oct. 24, 2018 By Christian Murray

A Woodside man was sentenced to nine years in prison today after pleading guilty to shooting his wife in March 2017, according to the Queens District Attorney.

Victor Guzman, a 55-year-old retired New York City corrections officer, pleaded guilty to first-degree assault earlier this month after admitting that he fired one round into his wife’s chest at their 59th Street/Laurel Hill Boulevard home.

Guzman’s wife survived, although she required treatment, since bullet fragments penetrated her spleen, stomach and adrenal glands.

The couple’s seven-year-old grandson was at their house at the time on the incident.

“The defendant’s actions in this case are reprehensible,” said Queens District Attorney Richard Brown in a statement. “He committed to love and protect his wife, but instead made her a victim of domestic violence.”

I resent your jab at Irish education and illiteracy. Had you any knowledge of world literature, you would know that Ireland is known for its writers…this man is Irish American and educated in this country; perhaps (but then again) intelligence comes into play, he might be more literate!
