Brooklyn Men who Pimped At Queens Blvd hotel sentenced to 2 to 6 years in prison

May 2, 2017 Staff Report

Two Brooklyn men found guilty of sex trafficking crimes, which involved forcing a 16-year-old girl and a 23-year woman to have sex with strangers, have been sentenced to 2 to 6 years in prison, according to the Queens District Attorney’s office.

Defendants Francois “Frankie” Cousins, 24, and Kadeem “Deemy” Moore, 20, pleaded guilty last month to third-degree promoting prostitution.  Today, Cousins was sentenced to 2 to 4 years in prison. Meanwhile, Moore was sentenced to 2 to 6 years in prison on April 27.

“Both defendants, in pleading guilty, have admitted to forcing a run-away teenager and another young woman into prostitution. The pair used threats of violence and verbal abuse to coerce the victims into selling sex for cash – money the defendants used to line their own pockets,” said Queens District Attorney Richard A Brown in a statement.

According to the charges, Moore met the two victims at the Days Inn hotel located at 31-36 Queens Blvd and worked with Cousins to force them to prostitute themselves on numerous occasions in Queens and elsewhere from January to March of 2015, using intimidation and physical abuse.

The charges describe a series of attempted escapes by the 16-year old that were thwarted with violence, until a 911 call from the 23-year-old victim, answered by the 108 Precinct, led investigators to prostitution advertisements of the teenager.

In March 2015, an NYPD sting operation followed up an advertisement, and an undercover officer was directed to a Queens hotel, where the 16-year old agreed to have sex with the officer in exchange for $120, according to the DA.

This is a frightening story- makes you wonder if/where there are other trapped victims right in our own neighborhood.Remember that case awhile back about someone held for ransom in a storage place on NorthernBlvd?! Unbelievable. That person was rescued.. If you see something, say something, yes. In any case, all of this, including the “Lost Girls” ( book by Robert Kolker),makes you remember again why all over the world, every day, prayers are going out-& need to-“for captives & their salvation.”

nobody thinks that 2 – 6 years is super light for this type of crime? those women will never be the same… these criminals deserve far more time in prison.

So George, everyone from Brooklyn is lowlife? Really. Also your calling people idiots, don’t they read the article. Your words, not mine. So let me get this right, all people from Brooklyn are lowlife, and every article you read is true, and we’re idiots.

George you don’t know that for sure. A lot of these women go into this willingly, just to make fast money. Are there unwilling sex slaves, absolutely, but some are willing, do it for the money and to get to America, then when they get caught it’s always, im the victim. Meanwhile she’s driving a bmw. You don’t know much about anything do you, caps or lower case. What a idiot

Jeeeze Com'on!

Just legalize then regulate prostitution. Governments can NOT legislate morality! If a woman wants to be an entrepreneur with what she has then let her!

A 16 year old was forced into prostitution. She attempted to escape at least 3 times and was both physically and mentally abused for doing so. She wasn’t receiving money from the rapes, her pimps were.

Wrong article for your cause

What’s your solution to the human trafficking problem that has plagued every country that’s legalized prostitution so far?

Pimping women against their will should be a crime indeed. Moving on to a woman who CHOOSES to offer her goods… let her!

Legalized prostitution provides a GIANT incentive for human traffickers, and indeed has in every country that’s tried it so far.

What’s your solution to that problem?

That is one of the stupidest, most corrupt things anyone has every said on this page.

This. There is prostitution at every hotel in NYC. The only difference between this cheap queens hotel and the spots in Manhattan where Spitzer took his is the amount of money. It’s awful for these women, but the fault is with society. If we really want to help the next victim, we should make it legal, and get these pieces of filth pimps out of the game. Same for drugs. Let people make their own choices.

We all feel for you and for your wife, that’s a terrible situation to be in, but nope, typing in ALL CAPS is NOT the way to get the word out. My eyes hurt reading your screaming post. Please try to scream at 108, JVB, even mayor on Twitter, you’ll get better exposure and possibly more answers than screaming and yelling at a random blog sunnyside post.

I think we might get better response or help from an investigative journalists. Try WNYC for proper review into this, they care about stuff like this, or one of the local news channels, they always have some hero types want to confront johns or hotels, etc.
