Chase Bank in Woodside robbed Monday, police say

The Chase Bank branch in Woodside was robbed Monday, according to police.

A man entered the 59-26 Woodside Avenue bank around 10:10 am January 30 and passed the teller a note stating that he had a loaded firearm and demanded money.

The teller complied, and the man fled with about $908 in cash. There were no injuries as a result of the robbery.

The suspect is described as a 25-year-old Hispanic man standing about 5-foot-11 and weighing

about 175 pounds.

He was last seen wearing a black bubble jacket, black cap, blue jeans, dark colored gloves and a blue surgical mask covering half of his face.

Police have released surveillance photos of the suspect and anyone with information in regards to this incident is asked to call the NYPD’s Crime Stoppers Hotline at 800-577-TIPS.

Banks are easy targets. They tell the tellers to just give the money no questions asked. I mean a guy in a wheelchair robbed a bank in Astoria a few months ago.

Yes so many bank robberies all the time, yet no physical or verbal response from NYPD nor banking officials on what they will do to counter this. Expect more and more robberies, no end in sight.

whats with all the bank robberies lately?? I used to hear about them on TV when I was a kid, in Queens it seems like its still 1970!

and yet no one will do anything to add more security. This is the story of so many banks. I almost feel they use lax security on purpose to claim more money stolen from insurance….

Why would spending billions on a wall When 40 to 70% of illegal immigrants come in legally and over stay there visas. Also the dude is white.

Homeless men charged in deadly 7 train subway brawl in Woodside: DA

Three homeless men were arraigned in Queens Criminal Court on Tuesday and variously charged with felony robbery, attempted gang assault, and assault for allegedly stealing the belongings of a 69-year-old homeless man who was asleep on a Manhattan-bound 7 train in Woodside early Sunday morning.

The victim woke up and tried to regain his property. During the ensuing brawl, the victim fatally stabbed a 37-year-old assailant and slashed a second man. The victim has not been charged in the fatal stabbing. The investigation by the NYPD’s Queens Homicide Squad and members of the 108th Precinct in Long Island City remains ongoing.
