The $2.3 million renovation of the Sunnyside Library was completed several months ago. While credit is deserved for the upgrade, the ribbon cutting should have been held last year.

Sunnyside Library Reopens
The Queens Library at Sunnyside is back and better than ever. After $2.3 million in renovations, the facility has a new young adult/teen area, additional computers, an updated media center and self-checkout kiosks. The library has also been outfitted with a new roof, better lighting and a revamped meeting room.
The renovations were made possible through funding appropriated by state Assemblywoman Catherine Nolan, the rest of the Queens delegation to the Assembly and Queens members of the City Council.
The reopening ceremony on Jan. 22 was celebrated with games, refreshments and student-performed songs and cultural dances.

The library looks nice but it seems to have reduced the number of books available for lending. Also the new books section-fiction and non-has fewer choices. One thing hasn’t changed though and that’s the unfriendliness of its staff.
