Skillman Avenue Gets Ready for Oscars

Skillman Avenue bars and restaurants are gearing up for Oscar night Sunday.

Claret Wine Bar, located at 46-02 Skillman Ave., is hosting an event starting at 7 pm dedicated to Tinseltown.

Meanwhile, the Cooper Kettle, the Globe and the Alcove are participating in a competition where residents pay $20 to cast their predictions as to who will win each movie category and be in to win a cash prize.

The winners will be determined by those picks that are the closest to the actual results.

There will be a winner at each of the three bars.

The competition is being run like a 50/50, where half the $20 entry fee will go toward the prize and the other half going to the Sunnyside Community Services Center.

The ballots can be found at each place (or below) and must be given to the participating establishments by 7:30 p.m. on Sunday 2/28.
