With a snowstorm expected to hit New York City, the MTA has canceled its 7 train work this weekend and the train will follow its normal schedule.
This weekend was supposed to be the first of eight weekends this year when the 7 train would be down between Queensboro Plaza and Times Square in order for the MTA to replace its decades-old signaling system and put down new tracks.
The MTA said that all scheduled work has been cancelled this weekend.
The MTA said it will have a fleet of snow and ice-busting equipment to keep the outdoor tracks, switches and third rails clear of snow and ice. Additional personnel will be added during the storm.

Safety is the number one priority for all MTA customers and the MTA employees. Better be safe than sorry.
Service was better this morning than most weekends.
Um… Before anyone starts thinking the mayor, governor or MTA executives decided to give us a break and help those commuters who keep off the road this weekend… just remember that the MTA can’t do track work if the workers can’t do or make it to work in a blizzard!! It’s like when my friend moved to another continent and offered me his awful, dumpy old hazardous car! So generous! LISTEN, if they really wanted us off the road, like just after hurricane Sandy, they would let folks ride for free.
How can you tell the difference ?
none whatsoever. its the 7 after all. doesnt get any worse.
