Sept. 24, 2015 By Christian Murray

The Michelin Guide has just released its 2016 “Bib Gourmand” picks and Salt & Fat and Venturo were among the picks for the best value for money, according to Bloomberg News.

These two restaurants were the only Sunnyside restaurants to receive the highly-coveted prize. Restaurants are evaluated for excellence on a budget (defined as two courses and wine or dessert for $40 a head).

The Bib Gourmand restaurant winners are widely considered the best and most affordable restaurants in New York.

Both restaurants received the prize for 2015.

Venturo sucks. Been there a bunch of times, not impressed at all. Funny how it gets these awards but it’s always dead when you walk by. Today I looked in at prime time had two customers and during dinner time as well. They’re so good they’re closed for lunch????
Who gives these awards out seriously?

Both have great food. Salt & Fat has much better service. Venturo staff acts like they’re bothered you’re there. I agree there are better places for authentic cuisine. I hope they don’t overlook La Flor although I guess that’s Woodside. That place is pretty reliable.

imho, I like Venturo and Salt and Fat but there’s better restaurants in Sunnyside – particularly among the ethnic ones like Punda Tibetan or one of the Peruvian chicken places (I like them all).

But I suppose “Bib Gourmand” awards don’t go to the more “hole in the wall” sort of spots .

I don’t understand the appeal of this place. Expensive finger foods, cramped environment, yuppie clientele, and toilets that clog every time I stop by to drop a duce.

A Brooklyn man was indicted by a Queens grand jury on charges of manslaughter, drunk driving and other crimes for a fatal collision in Astoria that killed his long-time girlfriend and mother of their young child in February.

Ray Perez, 27, of Caton Avenue in Flatbush, was arraigned Thursday in Queens Supreme Court on a 13-count indictment charging him with vehicular manslaughter for allegedly speeding through a stop sign in Astoria, colliding with another vehicle and slamming into two parked cars, and then driving nearly four miles away to a street in Maspeth before seeking help for his 29-year-old girlfriend Bridget Enriquez, who later succumbed to her injuries.
