Aug. 24, 2015 Staff Report
A Thai restaurant and a Mexican-American diner have opened on 46th Street in the past two weeks.
Term Tem, a Thai eatery, opened at 45-53 46th Street 10 days ago, taking over the space that was previously occupied by the Chinese restaurant China Taste.
The Thai restaurant is small, with about 10 seats. The menu, which is geared for take-out, is extensive.
A standard dish such as chicken pad Thai costs $9:95; a red curry chicken dish $9.95; and a large Tom Yum soup (shrimp) is $8.95.
Meanwhile, a Mexican-American diner called 46 Grill Café opened at 47-55 46th Street earlier this month, replacing a former Mexican bakery.
The diner seats more than 20 people and also has an extensive menu. The diner offers the standard trappings of eggs, sandwiches, burgers, salads and a range platters. Additionally, there is a wide selection of Mexican food–from tacos, burritos to quesadillas.

what are the odds that Term Tem is actually run by thai people and not the same endless succession of chinese families who have been selling garbage chinese food out of that location under different names for the last 10 years?
Actually the food at Term Tem is very good, certainly tastes authentic This to me. I say, lets give them our support. I’ve ordered several times and will be continuing to do so.
This poor Mexican guy is probably getting murdered by a high rent, yet the taco cart/truck can sell the same food and have no rent. Not fair
They will both be closed by January -feb. The rents will smother them
I’m still amazed at the lack of decent Chinese food in Sunnyside / Woodside. This is Queens right?
The guys that used to sell relatively cheap and delicious foods are either being aged out (their kids who have most likely attended college here aren’t going to continue the family’s restaurant as is except as a last resort), priced out of the neighborhood or are moving to greener pastures (move to a neighborhood with a stronger school district for example). Best bet is to travel further east or out of NYC to find them again.
I was just thinking that Sunnyside really needs a Thai restaurant coz we currently have any…….
I’ve been wanting a Thai restaurant close to home that serves Green Tea ice cream. So far I love Term Thai.
Hope they have better luck than Murphys! And common sense.
Meanwhile, the nearby Key Food supermarket at 46th Street and Queens Boulevard has closed down its baked-on-the-premises Pizza Department after only months in operation.
omg it was a cute idea but their pizza was terrible.
they also replaced an affordable seafood section with a new “fresh” fish display…although, the prices seem to have doubled and even tripled, which leads me to think how “fresh” the fish really are when nobody is buying them.
apparently all we do it eat here, and get pedicures
We take meds too. Lots of pharmacies.
Mr. Murray, Please get rid of this commenting system. It has a mind of its own and keeps changing my words.
Haven’t tried these new places but I certainly reccomend Los Pollos.
Welcome. Good luck.
