Queens Blvd Restaurant to Offer ‘Free Tasting’ of Mediterranean Food Wednesday

June 23, 2015 Staff Report

They say nothing in life is free, but the owner of Over Time wants to show otherwise.

After reopening in late January, the owner of the 39-31 Queens Blvd restaurant is inviting the public for a “free” tasting of his Mediterranean food this Wednesday, June 24 from 5:00 to 7:00 PM.

Christo Loannides, the owner/manager, said that OT Lounge will be offering special items such as Greek meatballs, salmon, chicken parmigiana, chicken souvlaki; and filet mignon with sautéed mushrooms and special sauce.

“We want everyone to know that OverTime offers great Greek cuisine and quality food from other countries,” the chef, Nikko, said.

Nikko said that he has 40 years of experience in the food industry and flew in from Greece to serve continental food and other delicacies at OT Lounge.

The food samples will be served at different time intervals between 5:00 and 7:00 PM. Those looking to attend should register on the restaurant’s Facebook calendar.

I dont know if they changed it but one early evening my husband and I had plans to go. When we stepped in ridiculous EDM music was playing at full volume. This was at like 5pm in the evening.

It was an utter turn off. We left without even ordering a drink.

I don’t mind some dance music in the evening, but that’s hardly the Sunnyside market, even for the younger people.

Stopped by at 7 and all the free food was gone from this cheapskate restaurant. No wonder it is always empty. I will not be bringing any of my women to this dump!

The owner is a nice fellow who means well; though, we got the impression that he wasn’t used to spending much time in the front of the house. The food is good for what it is. We hope he can make it; but, the Queens Blvd rent and his renovation costs must be hard to over-come. Best of luck to them!
