Feb. 17, 2012 Staff Report
This March was supposed to be a cheerful time for the alumni of St.Raphael School.
After all, March 3 marks its 50th anniversary, and the alumni association had plans for a fundraising event where past students would gather in support of the school. Instead, with the January announcement that the school will close, the focus has changed and the festive spirit will be more subdued.
The event will still take place. However, it will no longer be a fundraiser held on the school premises but rather a more understated occasion held at the church hall (Michael Brennan Hall). Instead, the 50th anniversary milestone will be recognized after St Raphael’s mass on March 3rd at 5pm.
A sizeable crowed is still expected as former students look to reconnect.
St Raphael Church is located at 35-20 Greenpoint Ave.

This is sad. Couldn’t St. Sebastian have merged with St. Raphael?
It is a shame that they are not having a big reunion. I live in Florida and took a week off work and bought plane tickets, It would have been wonderful to spend time reconnecting. I spent over $1,000.00 dollars between hotel and travel and this is wrong. ANd from what I see on the website other people have also.
